2011 NBA Draft Results: Tyler Honeycutt Goes No. 35 to Sacramento Kings
A 6’8” player who can either play shooting guard or small forward, Tyler Honeycutt will most assuredly have a size advantage wherever he lines up in the NBA.
The UCLA Bruin has a very high basketball IQ and comes from a program known for producing successful NBA talent despite not having that talent post great numbers in college. Such could be the case for Honeycutt, who averaged only 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds during his sophomore campaign.
Honeycutt is a tremendously gifted athlete who can jump with anyone on the court. He is also quite quick and gifted when it comes to shooting the orange ball. Even more impressively, his passing skills are way ahead of what many would expect from a college player who never ran the point.
Adding weight to his skinny frame needs to be Honeycutt’s first priority, but he could develop into a pretty sweet (like honey) player even without adding strength.
It will be interesting to see how he meshes with Tyreke Evans.
