NBA Draft 2011 Rumors: Chad Ford's Final Stock Down List

Joe IannelloJun 21, 2011

The 2011 NBA Draft is set for Thursday. June 23 at 7:00 p.m. in Newark, New Jersey.

For the past month, teams have worked out and interviewed players with the hope that they find that diamond in the rough.

That one special player that can make a difference and legitimize their franchise.

It could be argued that nobody watches more film on NBA draft prospects than ESPN's Chad Ford. He has been pumping out mock draft's faster than a chicken lays eggs.

A lot of attention is being payed to the lottery picks in this draft, and the players that have impressed scouts the most during workouts.

But what about the players whose stock has fallen? Which players have steadily dropped in Chad Ford's mock drafts?

Here is Chad Ford's final stock down list.

Jonas Valanciunas

1 of 7

Jonas Valanciunas was rumored to be taken in the fourth spot by the Cleveland Cavaliers, but all that has changed because Valanciunas' buyout with his team in Lithuania would prohibit him from coming to the NBA next season.

Many draft experts, including Chad Ford, have spoken extensively of the Cavaliers affinity for Valanciunas, but it seems unlikely that a team would waste a top-five pick on a guy that will not even be playing in the United States next year.

Chad Ford has Valanciunas dropping all the way to the Houston Rockets. If the draft shakes out this way, the Rockets very well could have gotten the steal of the draft.

Kemba Walker

2 of 7

It seemed like a real possibility a month ago that Kemba Walker could be taken with the No. 3 pick. It seemed like a guarantee that Walker would slip no farther than the Sacramento Kings with the seventh pick.

Chad Ford strongly believes that the Kings may take Jimmer Fredette with this pick, as his name is being pushed hard by the team owners.

If the Kings do not take Walker with the seventh pick, how much farther will the Final Four's MOP drop?

Kenneth Faried

3 of 7

Most mock drafts have Kenneth Faried being taken around pick 15, but Chad Ford's latest mock draft has the power forward falling to the Portland Trailblazers at pick 21.

This is more of a case of teams' needs than Faried's stock dropping. Portland would be ecstatic if they could add Faried's rebounding to an already stacked team.

Nikola Mirotic

4 of 7

Nikola Mirotic is another player whose stock has fallen but not because of his play. Mirotic is a really talented player that could make an immediate impact on whatever team selects him.

The problem with Mirotic is that he is another foreign player who is stuck in a really difficult contract for at least the next two years. Many teams will pass on the young small forward, and he may slip into the second round.

We may not see Nikola Mirotic play in the NBA for a few years, but a team with a later pick in the first round should take a chance on this top-10 talent.

Reggie Jackson

5 of 7

Reggie Jackson has all of the tools to be an All-Star point guard in the NBA, so why do many consider him a stretch in the first round? Jackson has been unable to workout for a single team because of a knee injury he sustained right before camp began.

Jackson has not given any teams an indication about the seriousness of his knee, and his draft stock has continued to fall significantly.

Bojan Bogdanovic

6 of 7

Without question, Bojan Bogdanovic is a first-round talent, but his stock has continued to fall as he will not be able to play in the NBA for at least two seasons.

The 6'7" small forward out of Serbia is a prototypical three and Chad Ford has him dropping all the way to the second round. He can shoot, handle the ball and rebound very well.

Look for his game to make a seamless transition to the NBA, whenever that is.

Josh Selby

7 of 7

It's amazing that Josh Selby's stock has fallen so much, but Chad Ford has Selby falling all the way to the 37th pick by the Los Angeles Clippers. Selby has good size for a point guard, and he can shoot from anywhere on the court.

Selby is a very willing defender who could be a future All-Defensive Team player. Selby clearly needs to be coached up and improve his shot selection, but he is a great talent that will be a steal in the second round.
