Five Ways to Make UFC Undisputed 3 the Ultimate MMA Game
Earlier this week the UFC announced that the latest title in their video game series, UFC Undisputed 3, would be released in January 2012.
Several new features were announced to get fans excited, including the additions of the featherweight and bantamweight fighters (duh!), the new PRIDE Mode, which lets you use the old PRIDE FC rules (sweet!) and entrances for fighters.
But as a video game fan and more importantly, a UFC Undisputed fan, there are a few things I would like added to the game that would hopefully make it a bit more fun.
I’m going to propose five changes to make UFC Undisputed 3 the best game possible. If you have something to add, let me know in the comments section!
Add an Open Weight Tournament
1 of 5
Since they have already added PRIDE Mode to this game, I don’t see why they wouldn’t build on the tournament mode they added in Undisputed 2010.
Pride was known for its tournaments, notably the Open Weight GP they held back in 2006.
Lets be honest, everyone wants to see if they can knock out Brock Lesnar with Jose Aldo or even make the GSP vs. Anderson Silva super-fight that we’ve been waiting for.
We aren’t getting it in real life; the least they can do is let us have in the video game.
Fewer Knockouts AKA More Decisions
2 of 5
The current game has a few flaws, including the submission system (has anyone ever tapped the computer?), but the main problem I have with the game is the number of flash knockouts.
In the year that I’ve owned the game, I’d say that about 3 percent of my fights have gone to decision. While that would seem to be ideal, it takes a lot of realism and fun out of the game.
The reality is that at least one out of every five fights goes to a decision, and while I don’t think the video game needs to be that accurate, a few more decisions would be nice.
Matchmaker Mode
3 of 5
Every single MMA fan in the world wants Joe Silva’s job. Let us give it a try.
In matchmaker mode you would create every card from scratch, try to make every fight exciting and relevant, and even have to deal with fighters pulling out due to injury.
At the end of each card you would get a rating from the fans at the event and a rating for every fighter on the card, helping you determine who they should fight next.
MMA Legend Mode
4 of 5
As awesome as the UFC roster is today, there will always be fans that would rather play as Chuck Liddell in his prime than Jon Jones.
Since putting Chuck in the current game would lead to a whole lot of flash KO’s, lets just create a Legend Mode with all of our old favorites in their prime.
Guys like Couture, Liddell, Gracie, Coleman, Frye, and the Shamrock brothers can be in this division, and when Wanderlei, Cro Cop and Nogueira retire, we can throw them in as well.
Add The Ultimate Fighter to Career Mode
5 of 5
Adding this alone would make me buy the game.
The TUF reality series has become a huge part of UFC culture, as it has brought thousands of fans to the sport and given us some of our favorite fighters.
Why not be able to try and fight your way through the house in career mode?
If you win, you get sponsor bonuses and a fast track to the title, while a loss can send you back to the regional circuit to try and earn your way into the UFC again.
Plus later in your career you can be invited back to coach your own team of fighters, and increase your popularity.
