The Ultimate Fighter Finale: Top 5 TUF Finale Main Events

First LastJun 3, 2011

Lightweight contender Clay Guida is preparing for his third main event fight on this weekend's Ultimate Fighter Finale. It all goes down this Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada, as he takes on WEC Lightweight Champion Anthony "Showtime" Pettis.

Both fighters are among the most exciting to watch in the division, and both promise to step it up to put on a show for the fans. A future title shot is on the line for the winner, and they both want it.

TUF Finale's have a reputation as having very good fights, especially main events. Plus, it's all free on Spike TV. You don't want to miss it!

No. 5: Jon Jones vs. Matt Hamill

1 of 5

Jon Jones was introduced to fans when he fought Stephan Bonnar at UFC 94. What really opened their eyes was his dominating performance against Matt Hamill at the Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale.

Even though Jones was disqualified for throwing "12-to-6" elbows, everyone knew who the better fighter was.

"Bones" would go on to have two more victories before challenging Mauricio "Shogun" Rua for the light-heavyweight championship. He defeated the Brazilian in the third round via TKO.

No. 4: BJ Penn vs. Jens Pulver 2

2 of 5

It's not very often that the two opposing coaches fight on the TUF Finale. Until the recently announced Michael Bisping vs. Jason Miller main event at the next TUF Finale, the only show to ever feature both coaches was BJ Penn vs. Jens Pulver at the Ultimate Fighter 5 Finale.

The rematch between the two was a very important fight for both. No title was on the line, but it was a revenge fight for Penn, who lost to Pulver at UFC 35 in a championship bout.

Penn got the better of the former champion in the first round and put him away in the second with a rear naked choke.

Penn would go on to defeat Joe Stevenson for the vacant LW title and successfully defended it three times against Sean Sherk, Kenny Florian and Diego Sanchez.

No. 3: Diego Sanchez vs. Nick Diaz

3 of 5

With only two professional UFC bouts under his belt, Diego Sanchez took a big step up in fighting Nick Diaz at the Ultimate Fighter 2 Finale in 2005.

It was voted number 12 on the UFC's top 100 fights of all-time list, and it was one of many memorable fights featuring two of the most exciting fighters in MMA.

Sanchez has fought on three TUF Finales, including the Season One finale when he defeated Kenny Florian to win the six-figure contract with the UFC.

His other finale fights include ones against Clay Guida and Luigi Fioravanti.

No. 2: Clay Guida vs. Roger Huerta

4 of 5

Former UFC lightweight contender Roger Huerta was 5-0 inside the Octagon when he signed to take on Clay "The Carpenter" Guida at the Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale.

The back-and-forth war seemed to be all but won for Guida, who was controlling his tough opponent with his wrestling and fast hands. He rocked Huerta several times to win the first two rounds of the fight.

Huerta, with his famous staredown of his opponent before the third round, didn't hold anything back in the early stages of the final round. He rocked Guida with a knee and quickly snatched a rear naked choke, forcing him to tap out before a minute into the round.

No. 1: Diego Sanchez vs. Clay Guida

5 of 5

Perhaps nobody takes punches and kicks better than Clay Guida. If he hadn't proved it before, he did in the fight with Diego Sanchez at the Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale.

The fight opened with one of the most memorable 30-second exchanges of strikes. While Guida concentrated on the body, Sanchez went to the head and bloodied his opponent.

Guida was dropped with a vicious head-kick in the first round but recovered fast enough to survive the round.

After a 10-8 round for Sanchez, Guida came back to secure takedowns and wear down his relentless opponent.

Guda's late-fight rally was not enough to win a decision, and he lost a split-decision that some people thought he should have won.
