UFC 130: Rampage vs. Hamill Weigh-in Results and Reaction

Jordy McElroyMay 27, 2011

All 20 fighters competing on Saturday night's UFC 130 card took to the scales on Friday at the official weigh-ins at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson versus Matt Hamill will serve as the replacement main event for the scrapped lightweight title bout between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.

Jackson (205) is coming off a controversial split decision victory at UFC 123 over former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida. Critics tend to overlook Jackson's performance and deem Machida as the rightful victor, but the well-rounded game plan implemented by the former Pride fighter was vintage.

"I was already training hard but that really motivated me to train extra hard," Jackson answered when asked about Hamill's promise to "break his will." "As long as Matt promises to put on a show, I'm ready to go. I'm ready to get that knockout."

Meanwhile, Hamill (205) took a unanimous decision victory over his former mentor Tito Ortiz at UFC 121. Outside of the one-sided beating he took from Jon Jones, Hamill has been impressive in every fight since his September 2008 loss to Rich Franklin.

A win over Jackson would thrust "The Hammer" into the top-10 light heavyweight rankings.

"It's a big opportunity for me. I promise you one thing. It's going to be a good fight. Let's do it," Hamill told UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

The co-main event features the heavyweight tilt between former UFC champion Frank Mir (260) and The Ultimate Fighter Season 10 winner Roy "Big Country" Nelson (260).

While Mir is coming off a forgettable UFC 119 victory over Mirko "Cro Cop", Nelson finally returns to action after his August 2010 thrashing at the hands of Junior Dos Santos.

UFC 130 airs live on pay-per-view on Saturday at 9pm ET/6pm PT. Two of the card's preliminary bouts will air on SpikeTV at 8pm ET/5pm PT. The rest of the prelims will stream live on the UFC's Facebook page at 6:45pm ET/3:45pm PT.
