Why the WWE is Like NBC's "Heroes"

Daris BrownOct 20, 2008

**Disclaimer: this may be a little out there for those who aren't familiar with the show Heroes. But it should be easy enough to follow regardless**

In a time where brand is everything, it's a wonder why WWE hasn't gone after NBC for their show Heroes (which is on every Monday night at 9).

If you have ever seen Heroes, you'd know exactly what I'm talking about. Check out some of the characters from the hit television show.

Claire aka The Undertaker

One of the main characters of the show is Claire Bennett. She's like any other 16-year-old girl, except for the fact that she's indestructible.

Whether it's falling off buildings, getting shot, or having bones broken, she can't be stopped. Which is an obvious rip off of the Deadman.

He's also been thrown through tables, slammed by sledgehammers and tombstoned straight to Hell, but he's still rises to defeat the evil villain.

Claude aka CM Punk

Claude wasn't on the show long, but he plays an integral part in the season as he can turn invisible. This allows him to go totally unnoticed to the world, much like our friend CM Punk.

Even with title reigns and the loudest pop of the night, he goes unnoticed by management. Instead of residing in the main event, he's totally forgotten about and lost in a sea of mid-carders.

Nikki aka Batista

I know what you're saying, how can a woman be most like Batista? But it's true, Nikki has super strength a la Batista.

Both go around throwing bodies left and right. But at the end of the day, Nikki is written out. So what does that say for Batista?

Sylar aka Triple H

In the first couple of seasons Sylar is the ultimate heel. He's out to get everyone, steals their powers and leaves them face down in the dirt. He's hated by all, until he make a 180-degree turnaround and is now fighting for the good guys.

Which isn't unlike the Cerebral Assassin. He takes what he wants and leaves a pile of broken corpses in his wake. And just like Sylar, he can change from good to pure evil with the blowing of the wind.

Peter aka Jeff Hardy

Peter is the ultimate good guy. He fights for what's right and always saves the girl. Or so we thought. The "future" Peter returns to present day in an attempt to save the world, only to cause a butterfly effect and screw things up for the worst.

Is this not Jeff Hardy's story? Just as Jeff is reaching for the brass ring, he manages to screw things up, leaving the company and himself hanging.

Linderman aka Vince McMahon

While Linderman is known as the big villain, everything is justified in his mind. He's trying to create a better world, or blow it up, for people like him.

Linderman has the power to heal, but he picks and chooses whose lives are worth saving.

And then we come to Vinnie Mac. He rules all things in wrestling. And when his stars are down, he tries to heal their career by making everyone on the roster job to them to make it look like their okay and worth paying to see (uh hmm Mark Henry, Great Khali, er the whole ECW roster).
