WWE Over the Limit: Predicting the Predictable
What's up Bleachers? This is my first outing so I figured I start out with something simple, predicting a WWE pay-per-view.
WWE Over the Limit is upon us and is looking more predictable then Extreme Rules was. There are some matches that make you think, but there are plenty that you already know what the outcome is going to be.
Of course, WWE has thrown some curve balls in the past and what we thought was a sure thing ended up being the complete opposite. For Over the Limit, though, I don't see that happening. So let's get to it!
Brie Bella vs. Kelly Kelly for the Divas Title
1 of 9
The Divas division is certainly nothing to be proud of, but it doesn't help that WWE doesn't care too much about it. Lately, though, the division has been the playground for Kharma. She'd come down after a match, or even in the middle of it, and strike. It's been happening since she debuted. If the past few weeks are any indication, it'll happen this Sunday as well.
Bella and Kelly had an okay match this past Monday. They're giving it their all, and when the company you work for doesn't care, that's all the fans can really ask of them. The days of Trish Stratus vs. Lita are over. The divas doing their best is all we can ask for.
I'd expect it to be the same quality as on Raw. Kharma will then come out and attack the winner. With Kharma wanting to take out the "Barbie dolls," I see Kelly becoming the new champion here. On a few occasions we've seen Kharma skip Kelly and attack the other diva. This past Monday, she flicked her head like she did with the dolls. Kharma will go after the Barbie doll of the WWE and the Divas title.
Winner and new champion: Kelly Kelly
Chavo Guerrero vs. Sin Cara
2 of 9
I've recently been getting back in to Friday nights after I stopped watching it when Eddie Guerrero died (R.I.P.). A feud that caught my eye was this one. Unless I missed it, these two have not had a match yet, and I think it has the potential to steal the show.
Chavo has still got it, but he's been stuck in ridiculous storylines with the likes of Hornswoggle. His talent has been wasted as of late and I'm glad to see him in a legit feud for once. Sin Cara has shown that he can perform, as long as he doesn't botch anything. Putting these two together is a phenomenal idea. Having the newcomer Sin Cara work with a WWE veteran will definitely benefit both wrestlers, sorry, entertainers.
As for who will win, I'd give the win to Sin Cara. Chavo is at a point in his career where he doesn't have to win. The fans know who he is, they know his last name and they know he can perform. Sin Cara, on the other hand, needs this win over the veteran to look more legit in the eyes of the fans.
Winner: Sin Cara
Big Show and Kane vs. CM Punk and Mason Ryan for the Tag Titles
3 of 9
Here's a match that gets me thinking. WWE's tag team division is just as bad, if not worse, than the Divas division. The company doesn't care about tag team wrestling much anymore. That's why we see random pairing of superstars challenge and become champions. The art of tag team wrestling is dead.
Anyway, this one can go either way. One one hand, it's rumored that Great Khali will team with Jinder Mahal to feud with Big Show and Kane. The feud wouldn't make much sense if Show and Kane didn't have the titles, and especially since Show was drafted to Raw. So if they lose the belts, Show goes to Raw while Kane stays on SmackDown.
On the other hand, WWE is building Mason Ryan up big time. He's taken down both opponents by himself on numerous occasions and has even teased leaving the Nexus a while back. Having Ryan not win the titles could hinder his momentum. That could be solved, though, by having Punk take the fall.
Overall, I'm going with the champions retaining. I think Punk will take the fall, which will anger Ryan. Punk would have ruined his chance at WWE gold and will leave the Nexus. Much like the Corre's muscle leaving, so will the Nexus'.
Winner and still champions: Big Show and Kane
Rey Mysterio vs. R-Truth
4 of 9
WWE has been doing a great job building up R-Truth as a heel. He has gone from the guy that the fans love, to a guy that the fans hate. That's usually a good sign in a heel turn.
I think this match will be quite the good one. Also, it's quite the simple prediction. No matter what happens to Mysterio, the fans will be behind him. If he wins, the fans love him; if he loses the fans love. R-Truth, though, could have different outcomes. If he wins, the fans continue to despise him. If he loses, the fans stop caring. The good guy took out the bad guy and that's what fans want to see.
I'm going with an R-Truth win. A lose could kill his heat. He can't really afford not to win. Though an after-match attack on Mysterio could bring his heat back up, I'm still going with a Truth win. He's on a roll.
Winner: R-Truth
Wade Barrett vs. Ezekiel Jackson for IC Title
5 of 9
The Intercontinental Title was once something to be proud of. At times it was considered equal to the World Title. Nowadays, it's nothing. It's been years since an IC champion went onto win a World Title. I think that's about to change.
I'm not saying that either Barrett or Jackson will win a World Title anytime soon. I'm saying that the IC Title will become important again. Barrett himself has tanked as champion. All he does it carry it around. For once we have an actual feud for the title, which is exciting. No matter the winner, this is a step in the right direction.
The match will be a decent one with plenty of interference from Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater. The power of Jackson will overcome it all, though. With his current push, I give big Zeke the win. He'll defend it against Barrett at the next pay-per-view, then go onto to face someone he's not familiar with. Personally, I'd like to see Jackson vs. Sheamus.
Winner and new champion: Ezekiel Jackson
Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole in a Kiss My Foot Match
6 of 9
This feud needs to end. I'm sick of seeing Michael Cole take up air time that could be used for a match. Then again, sometimes I forget there's no "wrestling" in WWE anymore. With Lawler's Hall of Fame ring on the line, this seems to be the final match in the feud...I hope.
The WWE Hall of Fame is a joke to a certain degree. It's missing so many important people from the company's history. I hope they don't tarnish it more by giving the ring to Cole, thus "inducting" him into the Hall of Fame.
This match will be a disaster, but satisfying. We'll finally get to see Jerry Lawler beat down Cole, win and make him kiss his foot.
Winner: Jerry Lawler
Randy Orton vs. Christian for the World Title
7 of 9
Christian has been screwed. There's no denying that. Vince McMahon doesn't like Captain Charisma, but has a hard on for the Viper. The outcome of this match is an easy one to predict.
These two will have a great match, a possible match of the night. They're both great workers and will give it their all to put on a great show. The problem is, Randy Orton is the John Cena of SmackDown. So it's pretty obvious who'll win here.
Winner and still champion: Randy Orton
John Cena vs. Miz for the WWE Title
8 of 9
Is there even a point to this prediction? It's John Cena in an I Quit Match.
Unless WWE pulls a Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart and have Cena pass out, or a Rock vs. Mankind and have Cena say "I quit" via a recording, Cena's going to defeat Miz and derail the era of Awesomeness for a little while longer.
Winner and still champion: John Cena
Conclusion
9 of 9
Over the Limit has the potential to be a great show. It also has the potential to be quite bad. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
And as I was writing this, I learned of some unfortunate news. R.I.P. "Macho Man" Randy Savage. A true legend of the business has been lost. He will certainly be missed.
