TNA News: Why Goldberg Chose Not to Be in TNA as the Network Rep
According to wrestlezone.com, Bill Goldberg was in talks with TNA to be the "Network Representative". This is not entirely surprising as a few weeks ago TNA teased a Goldberg appearance.
Just as iMPACT!, was ending Hogan and Bischoff came out to see their car spray-painted with "You're Next". Which for those of you who don't know, is Goldberg's catch phrase.
However, this never came to fruition as talks fell apart quickly. According to the article, "Bill views them [TNA] as a minor league" and "has no desire to tarnish his image as a top draw by playing for a losing team like TNA."
The article also stated that; "Bill looks at the ratings in TNA, and how poorly booked the company is, and he has no desire to put his legacy in their hands".
This is a huge blow to TNA as adding Goldberg may have given them a shot in the arm. I personally was never a fan of Goldberg, but I get that he has a following and has name recognition.
TNA has had a reputation of underpaying wrestlers and being disorganized. Ever since the Hardy incident, they have been looking less attractive to wrestlers. Not to mention, the ongoing workman's compensation lawsuit with former Knockout Daffney.
On a side note, apparently Goldberg and Hulk Hogan also have problems.
The article mentioned; "When Hogan low-balled Goldberg on that Australian tour (two years ago), Bill was very upset."
So I am sure that was another big deterrent, when it came to making his decision.
Hopefully, TNA can climb out of this hole and make themselves more appealing to wrestlers and the wrestling community. Otherwise, they will fall off like so many promotions before them.
