WWE: Top 10 Choices to Be Undertaker's Final Opponent at Wrestlemania 28
It is not set in stone, but word around the wrestling sites is that Undertake may retire next year leaving his streak at 20-0 at WrestleMania if he wins.
I say if he wins because he may decide that handing the reigns off to someone else might be better for the company than retiring undefeated. Undertaker has always been a company man and he could see the value in putting over someone else.
Whatever ends up happening, people are clamoring to find out information about his future. Chances are good that we will not see or hear from Undertaker until close to next years event, so for the time being I thought we could do a little speculation as to who his opponent could be.
Here are my top ten personal choices for who should face Undertaker at WrestleMania 28. These are in no particular order.
John Cena
1 of 10
John Cena is the poster boy of WWE and that will not change anytime soon. He has stated his desire to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania in the past.
He is a solid performer, but the problem with Cena being the one to face him is he is the only guy in the company who already has a match booked.
If something falls through and The Rock is unable to face Cena for some reason, whether it be injury or a falling out with the company, we could see Cena take that spot.
I would like to see a match between these two. I cannot remember a big main-event match between these two so seeing them go head-to-head would be awesome.
Randy Orton
2 of 10
These two have faced off on the grandest stage of them all in the past, but Orton was much younger and not the powerhouse fan favorite he is today.
Orton has grown into a global phenomenon. His demeanor, character and ability in the ring, have put him into a position where WWE wants him to be the centerpiece for Smackdown.
Orton is in the prime of his career, and I feel that he could put on a match that would be streets ahead of his last match with the dead man.
CM Punk
3 of 10
The straight-edge superstar needs this match more than anyone on this list. He is one of those guys who is in and out of the main event picture in WWE.
His mic work and matches are top notch, but he seems to never quite find that feud that defines him for a long time. Orton and Cena had an ongoing feud for a couple of years, but Punk has not had that with anyone yet.
Having this match could push Punk that extra step he needs to be a full-fledged, main-event player in WWE. He has been without a title for awhile now, and this could be his way back into the game.
Triple H
4 of 10
Like Undertaker, Triple H is nearing the end of his in-ring career. His good friend HBK went up against the dead man two years in a row, so why not Hunter?
They positioned him as the person who came the closest to defeating the Undertaker at this year's Mania, so he could already have his spot in the match secured for next year. It was a great match at this years event, and it showed why the young guys need to step up their game.
If two guys in their 40s are outperforming guys half their age, then it shows that WWE is in need of some serious training sessions with their performers.
This would be another great match, and it would be a great way for either man to retire.
Kane
5 of 10
The Undertaker's long-time onscreen brother and real-life friend would be a great choice for one last match.
These two have faced off many times, including twice at Wrestlemania. They might even have the longest standing relationship between any two superstars in the WWE today.
Their matches are always entertaining, and showcase both men's strong suits. The last three encounters they had over the World Title saw the Dead Man fall to his brother, so he may want to go out on top by defeating Kane one last time.
The Rock
6 of 10
this would be the reverse of the John Cena situation. Rocky is already set for the big event next year, but that does not guarantee Cena wont be injured between now and then.
If something happens and WWE still wants to capitalize on his name then we could see Rocky and Taker go one on one.
These guys have put on great matches in the past, but with Undertaker coming up on the end of his career then it would make sense to have him go out against one of the biggest names in entertainment.
Steve Austin
7 of 10
The man who currently stands at the helm of Tough Enough is someone who has said he is itching to get back int he ring, even if its for one match.
Steve showed he can still perform on a recent episode where he had a quick match with one of the Tough Enough contestants. He was giving and taking bumps and looked really quick and healthy.
These two have a long history going back to the nineties (I just want to address that saying all the way back to the nineties is depressing because it seems like yesterday).
I would love to see these two icons go at it one more time.
Rey Mysterio
8 of 10
This is one match I have been waiting to see for years. They have faced off in the ring under different circumstances, but they have never had a huge main event match together.
It is the ultimate David vs Goliath match, the problem being most people want to see David win, and in this case most would be cheering for Goliath.
Undertaker and Mysterio have very little in their past as far as interaction goes, but they have both been around for a long time and they could both benefit from facing each other at WrestleMania.
Chris Jericho
9 of 10
Everyone in the IWC is talking about when Chris Jericho will make his return. He has plans for summer tour with his band and he will probably wait a bit before going straight back to wrestling.
He has faced Undertaker, but never at WrestleMania. These two have had great matches at the event with other superstars, but pairing them together could make for a show stealing spectacle.
Jericho is ultra talented and when he returns he needs a big name to feud against, so the Undertaker could be the natural choice if they have a face off at WrestleMania.
Sting
10 of 10
The man who so many speculated would be the dead mans opponent at this past years event could end up being the guy to face him next year.
Sting is currently still with TNA, but with the way things have been going over there he could finally make the jump and do a short stint with WWE.
A match between these two has been a wrestling fanboys dream. The Icon vs The Streak. It would be an amazing moment to say the least.
If WWE plays their cards right and gets Sting it could see their biggest revenue for the event in history.
So thats it folks, what do you think, and who do you think should face The undertaker next year?
