WWE: The Rock and 25 Wrestling Personalities You Need to Follow on Twitter
The growing popularity of Twitter has expanded through the WWE community. Millions of fans attack the site with trending topics and hashtags all about their love for sports entertainment.
WWE employees have also joined in on the frenzy, using the social media to stay close to their fans and interact with people they may have never talked to previously.
For a wrestling fan without a Twitter account, the task can seem a bit daunting. Who do I follow? Who is actually real? Are these people going to say anything that I will enjoy?
Luckily, I am here to tell you who to follow and what to expect from them. Here are some of the WWE personalities you need to follow on Twitter.
Note: I am not only putting the actual Twitter name on each slide, but I am also putting a link to the site and the picture for each slide is that person's actual picture on their respective pages. This will ensure that you will know that you are following the correct people and not an impostor.
Zack Ryder: @ZackRyder
1 of 25
I had to begin with the Woo Woo Woo Kid, the self-proclaimed Internet Champion, Zack Ryder. Ryder updates frequently and takes a lot of photos as well. For instance, Ryder had a series of tweets last night about going out to eat with fellow superstars Primo and Dolph Ziggler:
"At a Waffle House...employee recognized us...Primo as 'Carlito's Brother'... [Dolph Ziggler] as "Zack Ryder"...but he didn't know who I was".
Ryder would also follow that up with a photo of Ziggler wearing Ryder's headband and posing with an employee.
While Ryder does advertise his YouTube page a lot via Twitter, he is always out to find new ways that he is being disrespected. Woo Woo Woo, You Know It.
The Miz: @mikethemiz
2 of 25
The Miz loves his Twitter account. In fact, on the one night where he pretended to be boycotting RAW, The Miz stated that he was hiding under the ring the entire night, tweeting people on his Twitter account. He has tweeted from ringside and even posted a photo of Alex Riley beating up John Cena in a cage match while the match was still going on.
The Miz is also very vocal with fans, retweeting things often. Whether you like him or not, The Miz is one of those personalities that you need to follow on the site if you wish to be a WWE fan on Twitter.
Christian: @Christian4Peeps
3 of 25
Former World Heavyweight Champion Christian certainly loves to tweet up his peeps.
Over 130,000 people follow the fan favorite. Christian tweets almost daily, but does not live on the site. Expect to see a daily tweet from Captain Charisma and nothing much else.
Christian goes back and forth between replying to questions asked to him and talking about where he is. Christian also tweets some occassional quotes and will let you know that Edge does not have a Twitter. Any person claiming to be him is an impostor.
Michael Cole: @MichaelCole
4 of 25
If you thought that he was annoying on WWE television, just wait until you follow Michael Cole on Twitter.
The self-proclaimed "Voice of the WWE" has only been on Twitter since the beginning on March, but has over 50,000 followers. Followers of his can expect to hear much about how great Cole is and how others, usually JR and King, are inferior.
Cole does the occassional reply, but he isn't a major tweeter just yet. Cole can go a few days without tweeting whatsoever. If only the same process was applied to certain WWE programming sometimes...
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin: @steveaustinBSR
5 of 25
Every WWE fan has always drempt of talking to "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.
His Twitter account gives you the best chance to talk to The Texas Rattlesnake. There isn't much more that Austin does on his page than talk to his fans and promote Tough Enough. Would you want it any other way?
By the way, the "BSR" at the end of his Twitter name stands for Broken Skull Ranch, the ranch in Texas that he owns.
John Cena: @JohnCena
6 of 25
I don't care if you are a hater of John Cena. His Twitter page is a useful tool to follow.
If you think that this is the type of forum to ask Cena a question and hear back from him, don't bother. Looking back on his past tweets, Cena hardly ever retweets or mentions anyone in any of this blurbs.
Most of them are filled with corny jokes, but there are certain kernels of information that are important. For instance, Cena made some headlines with his tweets about Daniel Bryan's release last year, hoping to see him return to WWE.
Also, we all know what Twitter has done with his feud with The Rock.
Chris Jericho: @IAmJericho
7 of 25
I love following Chris Jericho. He is always good for some laughs from time to time. He is also not too big of a star to answer any of your tweets.
Even still, Jericho uses his Twitter account to mark all of the things that he does in his hectic life. From WWE to Dancing With The Stars to things pertaining to his books or his band, Fozzy, Jericho is a very busy man. However, even Jericho can put some time aside to talk to his loyal Jerichoholics.
Randy Orton: @RandyOrton
8 of 25
A far cry from the cold and menacing Viper that he shows himself as in the ring, Randy Orton is one of the most user-friendly superstars on Twitter. The new World Heavyweight Champion talks back to many fans of his and seems very approachable on the site.
He doesn't ramble off too much and seems to just answer whatever you say in the shortest way possible.
I have to say that when I saw Randy Orton on Twitter for the first time, I did not expect that he would latch onto the site as well as he has. It has really helped strengthen his relationship with many fans and is certainly a page to follow if you are a fan of Orton.
Dolph Ziggler: @HEELZiggler
9 of 25
Dolph Ziggler is a very unusual man on Twitter, but it makes for some entertaining times. Ziggler is very random with his tweets and can muster a few laughs from anyone with some of the stuff that he says.
Ziggler references Bikini Bottom a lot, the home of Spongebob Squarepants. I don't know why exactly, but it is just one example of the randomness of Ziggler.
Joey Styles: @JoeyStyles
10 of 25
Former ECW commentator Joey Styles is still a WWE employee. He is in charge of WWE's website. If there is something that WWE wants you to know, Styles will tell you first.
Styles also seems to bring his own opinion to a bunch of things and is not afraid to say things that may not seem to be allowed by WWE brass. Styles is a fun person to follow and he will tell you about everything that matters.
John Morrison: @TheRealMorrison
11 of 25
News today in WWE has been surrounded by the Twitter of John Morrison, who tweeted this today:
"I'm about to get an operation to fix my neck- I will return @RonKillings"
Morrison is very active on his Twitter and has tweeted a few times after his surgery, which seemed to have taken place between 4:00 and 7:00 pm EST today, based on the gap in between tweets of his.
Natalya: @NatByNature
12 of 25
Diva Natalya does a lot with her Twitter. She tweets both WWE employees and fans alike.
She also tells us about what she eats and when she works out. Basically, she is a regular WWE fan that happens to be employed by them as well. It just makes Nattie that much hotter in the long run.
CM Punk: @CMPunk
13 of 25
CM Punk is one of my favorite superstars and one of my favorite people to follow on Twitter.
Punk says literally anything that he feels like saying whenever he wants to. Punk even uses foul language, something that I am surprised he does not get into trouble for.
Even still, I love to hear Punk without a filter on Twitter.
Goldust: @WWEGoldust
14 of 25
Goldust also doesn't have much of a filter. The Bizzare One is a major fan favorite and has a lot of followers on Twitter. Many people ask him questions and Goldust answers them back at his own discretion.
The best advice that I can give you for following Goldust is to not ask him anything that will upset him. There are a lot of questions that have been asked to him repeatedly and it has prompted him to block many people.
Even still, Goldust has a lot of followers, which means he doesn't need to keep you as one if he doesn't feel like it.
Jim Ross: @JRsBBQ
15 of 25
"Good Ol' JR", Jim Ross, is great at commentating in WWE and selling BBQ sauce. Ross talks about both on his Twitter account.
If you buy his sauce and send him a message about it, you are almost guaranteed a retweet.
The Rock: @TheRock
16 of 25
The Rock is a very electrifying superstar and one of the most popular men on Twitter right now.
Twitter gives The Rock a great platform to talk about Team Bring It, make fun of John Cena and promote Fast Five. If you want a retweet from him, don't bother. The Rock doesn't even follow anyone on Twitter.
Scott Stanford: @scottstanford1
17 of 25
WWE commentator Scott Stanford has really grown in popularity, in part to his aligning with Zack Ryder and his new Twitter account.
Stanford has received a lot of tweets from fans talking about him and his number of followers is growing by the day. Join the Stanford Army (his name for his followers, not mine) by clicking the link to his name on this slide.
WWE: @WWE
18 of 25
When looking for anything pertaining to WWE, why not follow WWE?
If there are any programming alerts, new photos, new videos, new stories, or anything noteworthy from WWE, this Twitter account is your one-stop shop for all things WWE-related.
Yoshi Tatsu: @YoshiTatsuWWE
19 of 25
You wouldn't think that following Yoshi Tatsu would be a good decision, but it definitely is. Tatsu is surprisingly better at English than I would have thought.
Tatsu has also been responsible for a hashtag sensation in WWE circles with the mystery of the Headless Yoshi.
Basically, Tatsu went out to compete in a match and someone took Yoshi's action figure of himself and decapitated it. Tatsu would like to find out who did it and it has turned into something that nearly all of the WWE superstars have commented on it at some point in the last 24 hours.
Chavo Guerrero: @mexwarrior
20 of 25
Chavo Guerrero is a great veteran wrestler who keeps a great connection to the fans via his Twitter account. The Mexican Warrior may be a long-time professional in WWE, but he is also a Guerrero.
Twitter gives him a chance to stay in touch with fans of his and have a lot of fun with them.
Ezekiel Jackson: @ezekielwwe
21 of 25
Former Corre member Ezekiel Jackson is a menacing force in the ring, but is a very friendly and approachable person via his Twitter account.
Jackson answers fans in a frenzy, spouting off responses to tweets almost daily for a set period of time. If he doesn't answer your tweet, don't be angry at him. He is a busy guy and it isn't like you will intimidate him into answering you.
Curt Hawkins: @TheCurtHawkins
22 of 25
Yes, Curt Hawkins is still employed by WWE. Hawkins is one of the most underrated superstars in the company right now and his Twitter is just as far under the radar.
Follow him and give Curt Hawkins a chance. That goes for you too, WWE creative.
Melina: @RealMelina
23 of 25
WWE Diva Melina is a fun person to follow on Twitter. She tweets all the time and posts a lot of photos. For instance, there are photos today from her at the bedside of John Morrison, her real-life boyfriend. There are photos of Morrison post-surgery, something that you don't normally see.
Check her out and check out the photos.
Heath Slater: @HeathSlaterNXT
24 of 25
Corre member Heath Slater is a very strange person in terms of how he tweets.
Sometimes he tweets random song lyrics. On other occassions, he answers people's tweets in very unusual ways. Regardless, Slater has grown on me and I now like his personality a lot more than I did when he was in NXT.
Wade Barrett: @WadeBarrett
25 of 25
The Twitter of Wade Barrett is a pretty fun thing to see. Barrett mentions his storylines a lot in tweets and is also not afraid to answer some people. Not everyone that asks you something is being very nice to you.
Barrett doesn't seem to care and answers people at his own leisure. Barrett is the future of this business, people.
