2011 NFL Mock Draft: Final Edition, All 32 First Round Picks with Trades

Dan TylickiApr 28, 2011

The 2011 NFL Draft has finally arrived, which means there is time for one more mock draft. There are so many different options in the top few picks that no one really knows who may be selected. I do my best to figure that out.

Here is the first round of the draft, complete with trades.

1. Carolina Panthers: Cam Newton, QB, Auburn - Let's face it, a quarterback will go first even though none are worth a first round pick. Newton is the one Carolina wants, as they give up on Clausen a bit quickly.

2. Denver Broncos: Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama - I had the Broncos taking Miller last week when everyone had Dareus going here. I think the sudden interest in Miller is a smokescreen, and Dareus is their guy.

3. Buffalo Bills: Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M - Essentially a process of elimination pick. They don't need a cornerback or wideout that badly, and Gabbert doesn't fit.

4. Cincinnati Bengals: A.J. Green, WR, Georgia - Obvious pick. They'll trade up in the second for a corner.

5. Washington Redskins (Trade with Arizona): Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri - Arizona gets an extra high pick for this to improve their defensive line, and Washington gets their quarterback. They don't want to risk missing out on Gabbert.

6. New England Patriots (Trade with Cleveland): Robert Quinn, OLB, North Carolina - Belichick is reportedly very high on Quinn, and is willing to trade two picks to acquire him.

7. San Francisco 49ers: Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU - Glaringly obvious selection.

8. Tennessee Titans: Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn - Tennessee will try to trade back in to acquire a QB.

9. St. Louis Rams (Trade with Dallas): Julio Jones, WR, Alabama - Trading up is a big risk for St. Louis, but they don't want to let Julio Jones get away.

10. Arizona Cardinals (Trade with Washington): Tyron Smith, OT, USC - The Cardinals will get a QB in free agency, but they need someone who can protect him as well.

11. Houston Texans: Aldon Smith, DE/OLB, Missouri - Wade Phillips likes the kid, that's all you need to know.

12. Minnesota Vikings: Jake Locker, QB, Washington - I hate this pick tremendously, but new regimes means new quarterbacks. He's got no excuse about a lack of targets this time.

13. Detroit Lions: Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska - Dream pick for Detroit as Amukamara slips to here.

14. Dallas Cowboys (Trade with St. Louis): Cameron Jordan, DE, Cal - Once the Patriots traded up, the Cowboys knew Cameron Jordan would be available here, and they like him more than most might realize.

15. Miami Dolphins: Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama - Chad Henne is not the answer, but neither is anyone else in this year's draft pool. New regimes mean new quarterbacks, and Tony Sparano is certainly not that.

16. Jacksonville Jaguars: Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue - Who else? He fits the bill perfectly for what Gene Smith wants.

17. Cleveland Browns (Trade with New England): Muhammad Wilkerson, DE/DT, Temple - Versatile, athletic defensive lineman who should fit very well with Browns.

18. San Diego Chargers: J.J. Watt, DE/DT, Wisconsin - Chargers acquire, between Watt or Wilkerson, whichever the Browns decide not to draft.

19. New York Giants: Mike Pouncey, G, Florida - Best interior lineman in the draft goes to a team that badly needs one.

20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson - Buccaneers are ready to win in the next few years, and since Bowers has a short peak in the league (he's no 10-year player) the two should ideally mesh well.

21. Kansas City Chiefs: Phil Taylor, NT, Baylor - Scott Pioli seems to really like him, and that may be all the reasoning needed.

22. Indianapolis Colts: Anthony Castonzo, OT, Boston College - Any offensive lineman is a great pick here.

23. Philadelphia Eagles: Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin - A perfect pick for the Philadelphia Eagles; Jimmy Smith's latest issues will cause him to fall.

24. New Orleans Saints: Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa - Saints need a pass rusher, and they won't worry about Clayborn's medical issues so long as he can play.

25. Seattle Seahawks: Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois - I highly doubt the Rams are the only team interested in this guy, and the other top linemen are out.

26. Tennessee Titans (Trade with Baltimore): Andy Dalton, QB, TCU - Baltimore Ravens are confident that Jimmy Smith or Cameron Heyward will be available, so they grab a couple of Tennessee's picks, who badly need a quarterback.

27. Atlanta Falcons: Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame - Tony Gonzalez is at the end of his career, and Rudolph is easily the best tight end in the draft.

28. Cleveland Browns (Trade with New England): Justin Houston, DE, Georgia - The Browns get their second mandatory pass rusher, and can figure out which wide receiver they want now.

29. Chicago Bears: Derek Sherrod, OT, Mississippi State - Chicago picks the best offensive lineman. It really is that simple.

30. Cincinnati Bengals (Trade with New York Jets): Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State - The Bengals wanted Andy Dalton, but unfortunately Tennessee beat them to it. Ponder is a nice consolation prize though.

31. Pittsburgh Steelers: Aaron Williams, CB, Texas - I've had the Steelers taking Williams from months, and I have no desire to mess with that now.

32. Green Bay Packers: Brooks Reed, DE/OLB, Arizona - Packers will take best player available, whether that's Akeen Ayers, Brooks Reed, Cameron Heyward, or someone else entirely. With only Mallett and Kaepernick left there won't be a trade.

As I've said earlier, it's extremely difficult to gauge trades at times. If I get a couple right I will be plenty satisfied, and I'm sure teams that want to fill needs like this draft.
