Hulk Hogan: 10 Reasons Why the Wrestling Superstar Should Just Shut His Yapper

Jon SainzApr 18, 2011

After Edge announced his retirement, Hulk Hogan went on twitter and started talking about it, causing a lot of people to lose the respect they had of him (if they had any), and to criticize him for his tweets.

Granted, Hogan is a legend in wrestling and he has all the right in the world to have his own opinion about these types of things, but sometimes it's better to keep one's opinion to oneself, instead of giving it in the Internet and letting the whole world know it.

Here are some reasons why it would've been better for him to keep quiet.

He Should Have Retired 15 Years Ago

1 of 10

Hogan started out saying that he, Flair, Hardy, Andre, AA and others would've quit 15 years ago had they listen to doctors.

Flair and Hogan should have retired long ago, whether they listen to doctors, fans or anybody else.

Hogan's Math Doesn't Add Up

2 of 10

Continuing with the guys he mentioned in the quote from the previous slide:

Andre died in 1993. Let me do the math 2011-15 = 1996, so Andre would've lived more had he listened to the doctors? That's a pretty good reason to listen to them.

Using the same math as above, it would've been difficult for Hardy to retire then, considering he hadn't even made his debut.

There Are Consequences

And the last one he mentioned:

AA, I'm guessing it's Arn Anderson, sure the guy didn't listen to the doctors and he was forced to retire for similar injures as the ones Edge has, it's just that he didn't do it in time and he can still be seen dealing with the pain.

"Wrestlers Work Hurt"

4 of 10

Yes, no doubt they work hurt and some of the things they do in the ring hurt a lot. But there is a difference between being hurt and being injured, and a big one at that.

Wrestlers, football player, soccer players, basketball player, baseball player, and all other kinds of athletes have to work even if they're hurt, but absolutely no one should work if they're injured.

By doing so, they could injure themselves further and end their careers or even their lives. It's not worth the risks involved.

Other Guys Have Had Neck Surgery

5 of 10

Yes they have, but every injury's different.

When JBL broke his top vertebrae in half, and suffered both a herniated and bulged disc in his lower back, there was no treatment for that kind of injury.

Cena and Austin have had surgery, and in Cena's case his injuries have healed completely and he continues to wrestle. In Austin's case, he's just a trainer who makes sporadic appearances, stuns people and doesn't even try to wrestle.

And if he needs an example near him, Taz was also forced to retire due to neck injuries and health issues related to them.

Edge Isn't Mick Foley

6 of 10

Mick Foley is a guy that seems to have no regard whatsoever for his own well being.

He's lost his front teeth, part of his ear and countless gallons of blood throughout his career.

Edge on the other hand seems like a more careful guy; he's been injured and has never come back before he achieved a full recovery.

So even if other guys do some crazy stuff, if Edge feels like retiring, let the guy do so in peace.

He Doesn't Know the Extent of Edge's Injuries

7 of 10

I'll bet anything against anybody that Edge knows his own body better than Hogan does.

If Edge feels like he can't go on, he shouldn't. Even if the doctors were to allow him to compete, if he feels like he's unable to do so, he should retire.

Having the guts and the will to do something is different than being able to do something.

Criticizing the WWE

8 of 10

OK, maybe it wasn't exactly criticizing it, but it's all the same.

"I don’t know Edges working environment." They are the guys that made you famous, you've worked with almost everybody there, you were there two years ago, my guess is it hasn't changed that much since then.

"They are a media company, not a wrestling company." They make movies and DVDs, OK, but their main source of revenue is TV ads and PPV sales, and when I watch RAW, SmackDown or WrestleMania, I watch wrestling.

Late and Weird Apology

9 of 10

As he was being bashed for his previous comment he had to clarify. "I’m not saying anything bad about Edge."

Well, maybe it was just me, but it sounded a lot like you were criticizing him for retiring. I guess you were just bored.

What's It to Him?

10 of 10

I don't know why Hogan would want to height in in Edge's decision to retire, but if you want to give him your opinion, use a phone.

You know the guy, I'm guessing you have his number (and if not you, someone you know), so give him a call and talk calmly and in private instead of letting the whole world know your opinion.

Stay the hell away from Twitter, or the Internet for that matter.
