MMA: Diego Sanchez Wants to Coach "The Ultimate Fighter" Opposite Nick Diaz
Since Nick Diaz won a slugfest over Paul Daley on Saturday night, fans have run rampant in voicing their opinion on which MMA superfights need to happen soon.
While a clash of the champions between Nick Diaz (Strikeforce welterweight champ) and Georges St-Pierre (UFC welterweight champ) is high on many fans' wish lists, that fight will probably never come to fruition—unless Diaz beats another top-10 welterweight.
Enter Diego Sanchez.
Sanchez—who has kept his name in the media via his Twitter account since a controversial win over Martin Kampmann—once again took to the social medium to talk about how he thinks The Ultimate Fighter 14 should go down.
Sanchez tweeted, “If you support me and my idea for me and nickdiaz as tuf coaches please let @lorenzofertitta @danawhite @ufc know this would be true war.”
If the prospect of a war in the cage was not enough to entice fans and Zuffa higher ups alike, Sanchez followed up with:
“@jimmykahn Zuffa can do what ever makes $$$ I like this fight it motivates us both very much he hates me and I like beating the bad guy.”
It is hard to forget the brutal battle that Diaz and Sanchez engaged in on the Season 2 finale of The Ultimate Fighter.
Sanchez won via unanimous decision, but many feel that both fighters made a true case for winning that fight.
The idea of Diaz coaching on the TUF is likely not more than wishful thinking, since he has never been a fan of the media hype that comes along with being a top-tier professional fighter.
The prospect of a rematch between Sanchez and Diaz is within reason, as Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker stated that cross promotional matchups between the UFC and Strikeforce could “absolutely” happen in 2011.
For the time being, little discussion has been held about Sanchez’s next opponent, while rumors have already swirled about Diaz next defending his belt against accredited wrestler Tyron Woodley.
