Week Six Fantasy Football: Quarterback Rankings

Jamal CollierOct 7, 2008

Ben Roethlisberger made a strong bid last week to remain a fantasy starter. He's on bye this week, though, so read on to see the quarterback rankings for Week 6.

These rankings are reflective of how I believe NFL players will perform, from a standard fantasy scoring perspective, in their current situations and Week Six matchups.

  1. Jason Campbell, WAS (vs STL). The only starting QB not to throw a pick this year as the Redskins win four straight.
  2. Eli Manning, NYG (at CLE). Eli gets his primary target back this week in Plaxico Burress, and they roll into Cleveland on Monday night. Don’t be surprised if they hook up for more than one score.
  3. Drew Brees, NO (vs OAK). The Raiders are allowing 232.8 QB PaYds per game. Brees will eclipse that mark as he awaits the imminent return of Marques Colston.
  4. Jay Cutler, DEN (vs JAX). The Jaguars gave up 309 QB PaYds last week against the Steelers on Sunday night. Similar production from Jay Cutler wouldn’t be absurd to think of, as his offensive line generally allows him to stay upright.
  5. Tony Romo, DAL (at ARI). Romo threw for three touchdown passes at home against the Bengals last week, and heads to Arizonato face a Cardinals defense that allowed over 500 yards in the past two weeks to Brett Favre and Bills QBs J.P. Losman and Trent Edwards.
  6. Peyton Manning, IND (vs BAL). The Ravens have a lot of pride in their defense. Nevertheless, they gave up 163 yards last week to Kerry Collins in a loss to Tennessee. Kerry Collins is not Peyton Manning, and Peyton’s receiving corps is among the best in the league.
  7. Aaron Rodgers, GB (at SEA). Rodgers made it through Week 5 OK, although the Packers were dealt a loss at the hands of the Falcons. The Seahawks, however, were recently throttled by the Giants and average 250 passing yards allowed per game and have one interception.
  8. Brett Favre, NYJ (vs CIN). Another shootout?
  9. CarsonPalmer, CIN (at NYJ). Palmer should boast starter-worthy stats when this one is over.
  10. Donovan McNabb, PHI (at SF). With Brian Westbrook aching from broken ribs, McNabb should get enough opportunities to be worth a look this week.
  11. Kyle Orton, CHI (at ATL). If you don’t own one of the above quarterbacks, start this guy.
  12. Kurt Warner, ARI (vs DAL). I wouldn’t count on Q to play this week either, but without him, Warner went for 250 and two last week.
  13. David Garrard, JAX (at DEN). The Broncos’ defense is far from stellar, but the Jaguars should have such success on the ground that Garrard shouldn’t need to throw often.
  14. Jake Delhomme, CAR (at TB). Last week was Tampa’s first without recording an interception. That said, Delhomme has only thrown two.
  15. Philip Rivers, SD (vs NE). The Chargers should come into this game hungry.
