Let's Think Positive: The 10 Best Things Going in WWE & TNA Right Now
We in the IWC always tend to take the negative look on things. From Dixie Carter to John Cena, we always have something to complain about. And I must say that I, along with many others, are responsible for this cruel look at the wrestling landscape.
However, we also overlook many positive things happening, so today I am going to run through the 10 best things happening in the WWE and TNA right now.
Before I think up some cliche phrase to put here, let's just begin.
10. The WWE Is Becoming a Bit More Edgy
1 of 11
First of all, I've never been one to blame the PG Era when something goes wrong. I believe you can still have great matches and feuds in a PG environment.
Nonetheless, in the past couple of months we have seen the WWE get a bit edgier. We have seen a little bit of blood, and heard a some cussing. We also haven't been sitting through as many comedy segments with Hornswaggle and The Great Khali.
9. Established Stars in TNA
2 of 11
I realize many people hate this, but I'm not talking about The Nasty Boys and Orlando Jordan here. The established stars I am talking about are guys like Kurt Angle, Sting, Rob Van Dam, Mr. Anderson and a few others.
These guys are good for TNA because they bring TNA more attention and raise the level of the younger guys, who I'll get to later on.
8. The Revival of WWE Tough Enough
3 of 11
WWE Tough Enough re-debuted this past Monday Night after Raw. I decided to watch it, although I wasn't sure what to expect, since I didn't watch the original series on MTV.
I was pleasantly surprised on how good it was and judging by other reviews of it, most liked it as I did.
This series is different from any other show in pro wrestling and Steve Austin makes it very entertaining. If you didn't see the debut, I recommend watching it, because this is one of the more entertaining things in pro wrestling I've seen in quite a while.
Who knows, we may find the next Mike "The Miz" Mizanian or John Morrison.
7. TNA Is Beginning to Travel More
4 of 11
In recent weeks, TNA televised two shows from North Carolina. They also promoted Eric Bischoff, who is in favor of taking Impact on the road. This is from an interview with WrestleZone.com in early February:
"Bischoff said this past year, there were 7-8 weeks of the highest ratings in the history. He said TNA is slowly but surely are hitting in the right direction. He said there were some speed bumps, he said they are building momentum and good talent. He wants to take the show in the road, inject the show with different kind of energy. He says they have a good future and is very proud of it."
This, in my opinion, is positive. Why, you may ask?
Well, the Impact Zone has the same crowd every week and often appears very flat on TV. Going on the road will (A) expose TNA to new fans and (B) bring some energy that the TNA crowd usually lacks.
This could help TNA make it to another level.
6. Dream Matches More Likely to Happen Now More Than Ever
5 of 11
With The Rock versus John Cena set for the main event of WrestleMania 28, I've realized that once matches that we considered to be "dream" matches, are more likely to happen now than ever.
Two more examples of this would be Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara, which is reportedly being considered for WrestleMania 28 and then we have Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Austin, in an interview in October with a British tabloid, said he'd never say never about an in-ring return, and revealed his neck felt better than ever.
It may seem far away right now, but think of this for WrestleMania 28:
The Rock vs. John Cena
Steve Austin vs. CM Punk
Rey Mysterio vs. Sin Cara
That would be a heck of start to a great card!
5. TNA's Tag Team Division
6 of 11
TNA has one of the best tag team divisions in the world today. They have Beer Money, The Motor City Machine Guns, Ink Inc., British Invasion and many others.
So if you are a WWE fan and miss the great tag team action of the past, TNA maybe a great alternative.
4. Increased Interest (Better Ratings)
7 of 11
In 2011, both WWE and TNA have seen ratings increase. WWE's ratings spiked from averaging about a 3.3 to a 3.8. TNA's ratings also increased, although it was a much smaller spike.
It was probably "The Road to WrestleMania," so we'll have to wait and see what happens now that WrestleMania is over.
3. The Young Stars
8 of 11
We have seen many new, young stars make a name for themselves with the likes of Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho and Batista leaving to pursue other endeavors.
In TNA, Fortune has been battling Immortal with four of the youngest and brightest TNA originals: A.J. Styles, Kazarian, Robert Roode and James Storm.
2. The Rock's Return
9 of 11
After Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson left the WWE in 2002 many labeled him a sellout, including the current face of the WWE, John Cena.
So upon Rocky's return, he had many questions to answer, and eventually, he confronted John Cena. This has led to the WrestleMania 28 main event already being set: The Rock vs. John Cena.
The Rock's return has been great for the WWE and has brought many attitude era fans back in the fold. It should also result in the most hyped match ever.
1. Competition
10 of 11
That's right, the best thing that WWE and TNA have going for them is; each other.
Competition is great for pro wrestling. It gives us fans an alternative from the WWE, or vise versa if you are a TNA fan.
It makes the two up their game, rather being content with a boring and dull product.
So for the fans who want TNA to die, I'm asking you why? Why do you want to only have one choice and that one choice is content with being average?
The End
