WWE WrestleMania 27 Results: Live Analysis of the Rock, John Cena, Miz & More

Dale De SouzaApr 3, 2011

Ladies and gents, it's finally here!

We're only two hours away from Wrestlemania 27 and the event could not be any more exciting than what we've seen in recent weeks.

Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio, The Miz vs. John Cena, and The Undertaker vs. Triple H II--it all tops off what is a rather promising Mania card this year.

For your results of this pro wrestling spectacle, pleas keep yourselves tuned in to this live blog slideshow as it will be updated with a full recap and the results of each match as they progress.

Don't miss your chance to see this spectacle--you still have a little more than an hour an a half to order the global phenomenon live on PPV! Call your cable provider or order it right now and let your voice be heard along with the many others in the WWE Universe!

The Opener

1 of 14

The Rock opens up the show, and immediately electrifies the crowd, getting them hyped up for the event... and calling Cena out on his "Fruity Pebbles" attire.

Rocky has never been as electrifying on a promo as he sounds tonight, and he's going for the gusto here, even getting the crowd to close it out with the "If ya smell what The Rock is cookin'!" line.

I marked out here, to be honest, and as the history of the Showcase of The Immortals displays, it is now time for Wrestlemania 27!

Kane, Big Show, Santino Marella, and Kofi Kingston Vs. the Corre

2 of 14

Kofi will step in for an ambushed Vladimir Kozlov tonight.

The Corre enters first, followed by the entrance of Big Show and Kane.

Twin Towers 2000-and-something?

Maybe.

Anyway, Santino comes out comically but intensely, followed by Kofi Kingston (in some badass ring attire and with some intensity on his face).

Santion tries attacking first but a nice right from Slater hits first.

Santino slams Slater down, and tags Show who is dominating Slater at this point.

Zeke gets the tag (or does he?) and Big Show cleans house, but Show eventually knocks Slater out for a rather quick win.

The replay shows a nice crossbody from Kingston and The Cobra (I still hate that finisher) before the KO punch and the post-fight celebration by Marella.

Winners: Show/Kane/Kofi/Marella

US Championship Match: Sheamus Vs. Daniel Bryan

3 of 14

"The Celtic Warrior want to keep his belt, while the former champ wants his strap back."

That's what I said before the bout last night, but when it didn't air, that's when I should've figured it out.

The Battle Royal that they always do and usually never air at Mania--it happened at Mania.

So it was intentionally a Lumberjack match in the rematch for the US belt, and that's when you should've guessed "Wrestlemania Battle Royal approaching" like I didn't.

The Lumberjack match turned into a Battle Royal, and all you guys need to know is that The Great Khali stood tall after all was said and done.

Oh yeah, and since Sheamus never actually got to start his match with Bryan, he kept the belt by way of a No Contest.

The US Title Match: No Contest (Sheamus retains; match never started.)

Battle Royal winner: The Great Khali

Snooki, Trish Stratus and John Morrison Vs. Dolph Ziggler and Laycool

4 of 14

Flawless?

Not when you're in there with The Diva of The Decade and The Queen of Poughkeepsie (who now rules The Jersey Shore), not to mention The Guru of Greatness.

The bout followed Taker/Helmsley 2, and Vickie introduces Dolph Ziggler, who comes out in a pretty cool vest.

The sophomore middle school BFFs, Team Flawless follow Ziggler and they have their game faces on.

John Morrison leads the faces, and Trish Stratus comes out next, ready to go (and not in heels).

Unsurprisingly, Snooki comes out last, to some big pops, and she looks like she just left a club in Atlanta.

Snooks and Trish get into it with Lay-Cool, and Ziggler gets lsapped by Snooks, but Michelle and Trish begin the bout and the Ma-Trish gets countered,

The head scissors also gets countered also and after Trish takes care of both Laycool members, Morrison lands Starship Pain on Ziggler, and Snooki,,,lands a cartwheel-backflip butt-bump before doing another cartwheel before getting a three-count following a splash.

Winners: Brunette Mafia (Snooks, Stratus, and Morrison)

Not much to say about this one, but I bet the media calls this the "match of the night,"

71,617 fans have set the attendance record for any event in the Georgia Dome.

Rey Mysterio Vs. Cody Rhodes

5 of 14

Cody Rhodes is a bit darker than many of you might remember (if you haven't been watching Smackdown recently).

The recap of what led to the match airs, including Rhodes's attack with Mysterio's knee brace.

Rey is rocking the "Stever Rogers" suit (Capt. America) AND Josh Matthews and Michael Cole are bickering.

The match begins and Rey gets a few good moves in early but Rhodes takes control and even uses the mask to his advantage.

Rhodes is in control and pays homage to Hardcore Holly with an Alabama Slam but gets a two count.

Rhodes is on top and holds Rey up for about 10-15 seconds before landing the superplex.

Rey kicks out of another near fall, and Rhodes lays in shots, even kneeing Rey in the back.

Rhodes misses Cross-Rhodes and eventually gets tossed outside. Rey slides outside and headscissors him into the apron.

Rey gets a very creative cradle pin and a near fall. Rey is going for something off of the ropes, but eventually gets a wheelbarrow suplex.

Rey gets up and gets a headscissors, but Rhodes counters the 619 and guillotine-catapults him under the middle rope.

Crowd boos as Rhodes is trying to take the brace off, which he does as Rey goes to the apron.

Rey lands a moonsault but gets a two count, and things are even as the mask is off and the 619 lands.

Rey kicks him in the face when Rhodes puts his feet up on the splash, and uses the mask.

The kamikaze diving splash connect, but another near fall and Rhodes uses the knee brace to set Cross Rhodes up.

The pin fall is academic at this point.

Winner: Cody Rhodes

Snoop Dogg and Teddy Long Segment.

6 of 14

I got the video up of the segment with Snoop and T. Lo. Take this one as you wish.

By the way, I have a crush on both Bellas after the segment. They are SO hot!

Now if WWE would stop trying to turn them heel all the time, I'd be a happy panda.

The Rock/Eve/Mae Young Segment

7 of 14

I love that Austin and Rock talked at the end of the segment and shook hands.

Good to see Mae Young still in shape, but Eve Torres could have at least had a nice match with someone.

Remember how much the Women's Title was represented when it was in effect?

Now that it's the Diva's title has replaced it, I'm just waiting for A Diva's Title match at Mania, just so I can care about it.

Randy Orton Vs. CM Punk

8 of 14

The most intense feud on this card that involves no belt or streak...Of course, only one can win.

This one followed The 8-Man Tag, and the pre-match package only makes me wonder more why we can't just get to the match--that's how intense the match build-up has been in my eyes.

Punk walks out first with no Nexus, followed by Orton--complete with the taped right leg.

Cole builds up the match by questioning if the leg is ready.

Orton clotheslines Punk as we get into the start of the bout, and they go to the outside  where it's a cat-and-mouse game before Punk takes control for a moment.

Punk mocks Orton as Orton is stunned in a corner and goes to work on the knee.

Orton goes on the offensiveand lands the backbreaker, but he is having some trouble with the knee, and Punk hyperextends the knee, working on it and even hitting a Shining Wizard in the corner.

unks lands a sickening knee while Orton is in the Tree of Woe, and gets a near fall.

Punk goes for the GTS after working on Orton a little bit more but doesn't get it. He did kick Orton before another near fall, and after getting crotched by Orton, Punk takes a superplex.

Orton's knee had to take some brunt of the impact on the superplex, because he gets another near fall without hooking the leg..

Punk drags Orton to the corner and locks in the Figure Four to do more damage to the knee.

Orton gets control of the match, hitting an Angle Slam and getting a near fall, but it looks like Orton's ankle is bending at a weird angle.

A few kicks later, Punk locks in the Anaconda Vice keylock but Orton regains control and stuns Punk while he's on the apron, landing the spike DDT.

Orton is coiling up and setting up for the RKO, but I'm not convinced that he's just rolling with the storyline here.

His setting up for the punt convinces me otherwise but his ankle seems to give out more than the leg.

Punk walks towards him and almost takes an RKO from Hell, but he dodges it and looks surprised that he went for it, but as Punk goes for a springboard splash, the RKO from Hell connects.

I think you can guess what happens next.

Winner: Randy Orton.

Rock/Paul Reubens Segment

9 of 14

I guess Pee-Wee Herman is Cena's number one fan.

Now it looks like The Cenation is The Fruit Loop Troop...

...If ya smell what The...PEE is cookin?

Okay then.

WWE Hall of Fame Recognition

10 of 14

Abdullah The Butcher, Sunny,  Animal and Paul Ellering, Drew Carey (for who knows why), Bob Armstrong, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and of course the incomparable Shawn Michaels (In my opinion, the greatest of all time aside from Taker, HHH, Rock, and Austin) all get their props from the fans.

Drew Carey got booed by the way.

Jerry "The King" Lawler Vs. Michael Cole (Guest Ref: Stone Cold Steve Austin)

11 of 14

And I quote: There will be some bad blood spilled here, even if no blood actually spills here.

The hype-up to this bout airs right after the legends appear, and Josh Matthews is hyping up the bout the rest of the way.

Booker T will call the action along with Matthews, as will Jim Ross.

Cole asks for our attention and he is dressed as if he were an NCAA tournament.

Cole runs his mouth to get the crowd into the bout and mentions that this is the first Mania match for both he and Lawler.

He's acting as if it's "written in the stars", to borrow from the Mania theme song, that he'll win, but even as Swagger comes out with his arrogant smile it doesn't seem as such.

Austin comes out next in his typical "Austin attire"--one of his shirts and a nice pair of shorts, and scares Cole back into the booth.

Rattlesnakes look terrible in black and white stripes, if I can throw that out there.

Lawler is deck in all black and Cole is hiding like a wimp (sort of), but will start the match "when he's ready".

Lawler takes Swagger out as easily as anyone has taken out Swagger in his whole tenure, and Cole is hiding behind the booth again.

Lawler accepts Cole's "truce" but pulls him into the booth and smacks him into the glass cubicle, if we're calling it that.

Lawler is just abusing Cole outside the ring, and Swagger eventually ambushes Lawler.

I guess Cole distracted Austin before Swagger attacked Lawler, but Cole gets a basebal slide to set up for Austin's distraction and Swagger's ankle lock.

I can sense as Cole tells Austin to count that Austin's about to break Cole's neck with a Stunner, but he counts to four before Lawler gets in the ring..

Cole goes to work on the left leg of Lawler and purposely steps on Lawler before a splash from the bottom rope.

Lawler connects with a right to the stomach but Cole takes advantage of the leg of Lawler and he's about to soften the leg up for something.

Swagger's ankle lock did the damage and the "Boring" chants begin.

The mockery begins as Cole pulls the strap down and gets the An-Cole Lock.

If Lawler taps I'll lose all faith in WWE Creative, but Lawler gets out of it.

Bonus note: Matthews is impressed that Cole hasn't been beaten yet, and as Swagger throws the towel in, Austin throws it back and Swagger's in Austin's face.

My favorite part of the match begins as Austin Stunners Swagger.

Cole is pleading for Austin to be fair, but eventually provokes Austin, who pushes Cole into the right hand offense of Lawler.

The "Jerry" chants begin, and a dropkick lands, which can only lead to one thing.

The strap is down, and The King lands The Crown, but Stone Cold laughs as Lawler is having fun with Cole.

An ankle lock causes Cole to tap, and King lands The Crown--the fist drop--again, but until Austin rings the bell, the torture continues.

Cole literally has to say he gives up before Austin calls for the bell as Lawler makes him tap again.

Winner: Jerry Lawler.

The after-match sees a beer bash happen with Lawler and Austin, but Booker wants in on the bash and takes the suit coat off for a spin-a-roonie. Austin calls for more Keystone Lights and "The Old Stone Cold" Stunners Booker to Lawler's amusement.

Hell, I'm just glad Austin didn't jack my Vanilla Coke stash for the bash.

The Raw GM rings in and Matthews reads the e-mail says... Austin overstepped his boundaries as ref and Cole is the winner.

Austin and Lawler are confused as the "BS" chants begin.

Lawler feeds the messenger to Austin, who Stunners him.

Hey, who didn't see someone aside from Swagger getting Stunnered? I did.

All I wanted was for him to drink a few beers.

The clips of Wrestlemania Week air. You really have to love the service that the WWE does for the cities that host Mania.

The Undertaker Vs. Triple H: Round II

12 of 14

The King of Kings vs. The Demon of Death Valley.

Who truly is The Last Outlaw?

We'll have ourselves an answer in this No Holds Barred bout.

The two future hall of famers will go at it one more time tonight.

The lights go out, and "For Whom The Bell Tolls" is on, meaning The King of Kings is on his way out with his armed guards.

The crown and fur-coated armor was a mirage, but the intensity in HHH's eyes is far from a mirage.

I'm having flashbacks to the past two Manias, as well as a few flashes of WrestleMania 6, because this unquestionably forces the fans to choose between two extraordinary faces.

The bell tolls four times before "Ain't no Grave" sounds in the background, and I'm marking out as I'm typing this.

Moments like this make you feel like a fan no matter how old you are.

This is why we watch Wrestlemania.

There's something soothing about Johnny Cash as Taker finally steps inside The Yard.

The bell rings and THunter gets a few shots in against the corner but Taker tosses him to the outside and tosses Hunter into the steps.

The monitors get ripped out of the SAT's table but Hunter spears Taker into the "Cole Mine" as JR calls it.

Taker goes off the ropes and Taker lands his flying clothesline, but Triple H comes back and clotheslines him over the ropes.

They go to the outside and the barricade meets Taker's back at about 50 MPH courtesy of an Irish Whip.

Lawler and JR clear out as the action reaches their table. Triple H tries twice for a Pedigree through the table and gets tossed off the table.

Taker already seems fatigued already but he got a rush of adrenaline in his system and appeared to land his Deadman's Dive on HHH.

Taker smacks the face of Triple H onto the steps, and Taker charges for him after a back and forth battle, but the Spanish Announce Table loses this match by a Triple H spinebuster through the table.

Triple H gets him up and gets him in the ring but Taker hits the Chokeslam but gets a two-counts.

Taker headbutts The Game but gets rammed into the turnbuckle before he can set up for The Last Ride.

Triple H gets four punches, jumps out of another Last Ride attempt, and gets the Pedigree reversed before landing another spinebuster and getting a two count.

Next thing you know, a chair comes into play, but Taker turns Triple H's attempt back on him and whacks Hunter with the chair.

The chair shot gets averted by a kick and The Pedigree connects, but Hunter gets a near fall.

Hunter gets Taker up on the turnbuckle but Taker gets The Last Ride in and gets a two count.

Taker later stuns Triple H long enough to hit the Tombstone, but the result echoes that of The Last Ride.

Another Tombstone attempt gets countered by a DDT, and Taker shoves Hunter off of the chair.

They're both struggling to get up--there is a lot of heart shown in both guys, and once they do, Triple H set s up for a Pedigree for the closest near fall of the night.

Another Pedigree connects but Taker kicks out again.

Triple H grabs the chair and this time he's whacking Undertaker with the chair.

The old Cerebral Assassin is back, and in Austin-Rock II style, he delivers the multiple shots to the back.

I've seen the stare in Hunter's eyes before...he now has the stare in his eyes like he's going to do something evily, and the shot to the head has to do it.

No shame in 18-1, but you can never tell with Taker.

As a matter of fact, Taker is having a tough time sitting up like he normally does. The Deaman is falling, and Hunter is telling him to stay down--to just "die".

Hunter's asking him what's wrong with him, but the Cold Hand of Death grips the neck as he gets up.

Triple H lands a TOmbstone of his own, but Taker got up.

WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST SEE?! He got up from his own damn move--I didn't think he would!

Triple H brings out his little friend out, and the sledgehammer is the definition of Triple H in matches like these.

Triple H takes too much time and traps himself in Hell's Gate! Will he tap?

He can't escape, thought he's trying to pick him up to powerbomb him.

After looking like he was going to use his sledge, Triple H is once again a victim of The Streak--19-0 is The Deadman!

Winner (in one HELL of a Mania Classic): THe Undertaker by Hell's Gate (modded Gogoplata)

The Mania-Tron shows that The Game has been claimed once again, and The Last Outlaw is the man who stands19-0, The Undertaker!

"Ain't No Grave" is still an epic theme in my eyes, and Taker looks like he's really dead as Triple H gets to his feet.

Listening carefully, and you can probably hear a few fans clapping.

Hunter has blood dripping from his nose, but he's not going back for the sledgehammer.

He's pausing as Taker just collapsed on the ring floor, but I can't tell if he's selling it as Hunter doing a bang-up job of damaging him or if he's really losing consciousness.

The crowd applauds Taker and chants his name as he's out on a stretcher and taken to the back.

All I can say: What a match!

WWE Championship Match: The Miz Vs. John Cena

13 of 14

The Awesome One vs. The Leader of The Cenation... and somewhere in the balance lies the Hall of Fame-worthy son of a former Tag Team Champion--The Man They Call "The Great One".

The question though is, WHO walks out of Mania as The Champ?

This match follows the 6-person tag and Miz's hype-up video is done to the theme of Nas' "Hate Me Now".

The words "Awesome" surrounds the Tron as Miz finally gets pyro and Alex Riley's Letterman vest is blinged out.

The "Cena Sucks" chants start briefly, and Cena's entrance will involve a choir.

DMX's "Prayer" airs along with a montage of Cena's highlights--and a few of his trying times, including his injuries.

The choir is singing "My Time is Now" but it sounds like they're saying "My Time is Up".

Cena comes out, and is in a red-colored shirt as the crowd is merely Anti-Cena (not quite pro-Miz, since it's in Georgia).

Miz is making his first Mania appearance as the WWE Champ, and the intensity is in his eyes as the bell rings.

Cena takes Miz down but Miz gets up and goes from a headlock to a shoulder block.

The Rock must have done a hell of a job getting the crowd into the event because they have begun to boo him for every move he does.

Near falls from both men, and Miz lands a boot which leads to a few right hands by Miz, who ducks a clothesline from Cena,

Cena gets his head of steam  and lands both the sinning side slam and the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but gets a near fall and tries to drop toe-hold, but can't get the STF on Miz.

Cena tries for a cradle which leads to another near fall, and an Attitude Adjustment attempt  leads to the STF but the exposed turnbuckle and the Skull Crushing Finale connect, which unsurprisingly lead to a near fall.

With time, the ref gets knocked down and Cena can't get a count when he lands the AA.

Despite an attack by A-Ri, Miz gets another two count.

Riley distracts the ref and Miz uses the briefcase but hits A-Ri with it, yet kicks out after another Attitude Adjustment.

It looks as though a clothesline over the barricade will lead to a double countout, meaning Miz retains the belt.

Winner: None. The Miz retains as this is a draw.

The Rock comes out and reads the e-mail from the Raw GM, who thinks...

Wait for it...

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT HE THINKS!

Rocky says the match must restart and there must be a winner...oh yeah, and he tells the GM what to do with the Fruity Pebbles and The Awesome.

The match restarts and The Miz wins after a Rock Bottom to Cena from...who else?

Winner: The Miz.

The Rock eyes The Champ down and Lays the Smack Downleading to the People's Spinebuster and The People's Elbow to end the show.

World Heavyweight Title Match: Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio

14 of 14

The Destiny vs. The Ultimate Opportunist...one man's dreams must be shattered here.

It's the last match on the slideshow, but it opened the show. I don't understand it, but I know Alberto Del Rio is riding high-class in a Rolls Royce on his way to the ring.

Edge slides into the ring as Captain Charisma and Brodus Clay are at ringside. His arm is taped up underneath the elbow pad.

They tie up, jockeying for position and they trade shots. Nice back bodydrop by Edge, but Del Rio regains control momentarily.

Edge dumps Del Rio outside, missed a baseball slide, and Del Rio's focus is that injured arm.

Del Rio stomps on Edge and realizes that the focus has to be the arm, but he gets Edge inside before he goes back to work on that arm, because the belt can't switch on a countout or a DQ.

Del Rio hurts Edge again and gets a near fall.

Del Rio locks the arm up again but Edge breaks it. and dodges a legdrop sending Del RIo to the outside and lands what appears to be a landed senton.

Another near fall and Del Rio eats a  wheel kick after going off the ropes.

Brodus hasn't has a shot to get in, but Edge lands clotheslines as he and Christian look on.

Del Rio lands the leaping armbreaker, but the Edge-o-matic connects as a counter to the cross armbreaker.

A rolling pin turns into th patented arm bar but Edge reaches the ropes.

Edge goes to the top, takes a leaping enzuguri but gets the foot on the ropes, and Christian seems to take care of Brodus but he gets back up, and Edge lands the Edgecution .

Edge goes for the spear but  Brodus sets up Del Rio's attempt at the armbar which turns into a cradle and then the Edgecator (modded Sharpshooter).

Christian hits the tornado DDT to equalize Clay, and Edge hits a spear from hell for the pin and the retaining of his title!

Winner: Edge!
