WWE WrestleMania 27: Will Too Many Heels Win at WrestleMania?
Hello once again bleachers. I was looking at the WrestleMania card whilst doing a different article and realised I was looking at a card that has the potential to give a large number of heels the victory at this event.
If too many heels win, will it affect the overall view of WrestleMania? Will it affect the feuds that will arise in the aftermath of the Granddaddy of ‘em all? Will it be seen as an attempt to get more people invested in the bad guys, like they were in the attitude era? Let’s find out.
As I have been saying since last Friday, The Corre have never looked stronger. They hold two...prestigious...titles in WWE and work extremely well together as a unit. To have them lose to a mismatched team would make absolutely no sense whatsoever and I’d have to throw something at the wall. This is a win for heels.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Sheamus has only just won the US title off Daniel Bryan. He has used it to rid himself of the King of the Ring moniker that was making him look foolish and strengthened his character in a mere two weeks since winning it. To give this belt back to Daniel Bryan would make no sense.
Sheamus is the heel of the match and I can’t see Daniel Bryan winning his title back as it would end what could be an interesting feud. So we can put this down as the second heel win.
Cody Rhodes has had a lot of effort put into his character and it is almost—dare I say it—perfect. To have Mysterio win would devalue Rhodes as a character and end the feud between Mysterio and him.
As I explained in a previous article, the best case scenario is Cody Rhodes winning as it means endless possibilities for the direction of his character. That makes it three for the heels.
Randy Orton has been on a super-streak over the past month, eliminating all Nexus members. CM Punk is currently being built up to be the top heel in the company so again, it makes no sense for him to lose.
Randy can easily rebound from a loss at WrestleMania and it is a good chance to establish Punk as a top heel that WWE surely won’t miss. That’s four wins for the heels by my count.
The Miz. He now has a customised belt and needs to win cleanly over Cena to show he really is a must-see champion. With The Rock there to mix things up a bit, this makes the Miz even more likely to retain the belt. Win No. 5 for the heels. (Side note: Good chance to turn Cena heel in the process)
Finally, Alberto Del Rio. Many in the IWC believe he may actually win the title at WrestleMania, but I am unsure of what the outcome of this match will be. Something tells me Edge will be cost his championship at WrestleMania, by either Christian or Alberto himself. If he did win, which is just as likely as Edge winning, that would be two-thirds of the entire card given to the heels.
So is the WWE trying to shove a new heel-run era down our throats? I’d say that if these predictions turn out to be true, it is an attempt to move away from the “poster boy who only appeals to kids” gimmick. Before you slay me for saying that, I am in no way implying that it is a bad gimmick to have, I actually think it has helped the company survive a rough patch over the past couple of years, by bringing in a younger demographic—but I digress.
The heel persona is one that if carried off well, can be very successful and a big draw for the company. You only have to look at CM Punk to realise that. Can you have too many heels? Not if you have the faces to back them up. There are plenty of faces in the mid-card who could feud with Sheamus, so there isn’t really a problem there. It is the main-eventers that have the problem.
With only a select few Superstars at the top of the food chain in WWE, they have to be careful how many heels are vying for a title at one time. A heel vs. heel programme could be entertaining, but I feel it would have to be balanced with a face at some point and if all these heels win at WrestleMania, this could be difficult, especially if the Cena turn happens.
This attempt to get people to like the bad guys needs to be handled carefully because if it isn’t, people won’t know who to cheer for and matches will end up being in disarray. Granted, this is an extreme scenario, but it could happen if the heels are not given the care and attention they require at WrestleMania. WWE needs to build some more top faces in my opinion.
I don't think the actual event will be frowned upon if all the heels win, but it may disappoint a large proportion of the younger fans, who are a big part of the WWE audience. WWE needs to please as many people as possible at the biggest event of the year. To have a face win in one of the main events would lift the whole spirit of the arena in my opinion and make for a much better atmosphere.
I am now all heeled out and would like you to tell me what you think about this situation. Please leave a comment in the section below and I will do my best to reply to all that warrant it.
Thanks for reading.
