David Trezeguet Out Injured: Might Not Be Such a Bad Thing
Could it really be a good thing to say that the second-leading scorer in Serie A last season is out for a couple months?
You may think it's nuts, but it might be true.
When the news broke Friday that Juventus striker David Trezeguet will be out until at least December after going under the knife to get rid off knee inflammation, some fans started to panic.

However, it might not be that bad.
Trezeguet, who was linked with a move to Barcelona this summer, has not been his usual self to start off the 2008-09 campaign. Because of this, Juve manager Claudio Ranieri preferred to use Vincenzo Iaquinta and summer signing Amauri against Udinese last weekend. The Frenchman did get the start in Juve's Champions League opener against Zenit, but did not offer much to get excited about.
As it was proven in Juve's 1-0 against Zenit, when the game doesn't have a lot of possession, Trezeguet isn't always involved in the game.
"We were not expecting David's injury and his four-month absence will be difficult to compensate for," Ranieri said at his press conference before Sunday's match against Cagliari. "He is a hitman and the fact we will have to do without one of our most profilic strikers can become a problem. This is an opportunity for those who have not played that much to show how much they are really worth."
But the real question is, who will team with Alessandro Del Piero in Ranieri's 4-4-2 system?
The name that fans want to see the most out of anybody is Italian Under-21 starlet Sebastian Giovinco. The 21-year-old hasn't seen a minute of playing time this season and, combined with a very publicized contract battle with the club, hasn't been in the best of moods since returning from Olympic duty.
However, the pint-sized playmaker has loads of talent and his versatility to play up top or in the midfielder will give Ranieri options in his starting squad.
The other name that will be filling in for Trezeguet should be Amauri, who will be looking to prove his hefty price tag was worth it. He got his first Serie A goal with the club last weekend against Udinese, and will be looking to become Del Piero's strike partner on a regular basis.
The always steady Iaquinta may not grab headlines, but has shown that he has immediate chemistry with Amauri, as they proved against his former side last weekend. Juve's super sub last season would start on almost any side in Serie A and with Del Piero getting up in age, fans should get used to the Iaquinta-Amauri connection up top.
