NBA Power Rankings: The 25 NBA Twitterers You Need To Follow

Hayden KimJun 7, 2018

Even if The Social Network hadn't been released, the reality is that social networks such as Facebook and Twitter have brought an entirely new and cool way of communicating with others, especially on the topic of sports.

Nowadays, one could easily find out the score of a game, where their favorite player is or when an injured player is coming back simply by going on their cell phone and checking their "Twitter Feed."

There is no doubt that the world of communication has been simplified for better or for worse, and with the large amount of Twitterers in the world of sports, the margin for making a mistake is unimaginable.

On the other hand, there are many Twitterers who entertain on a daily basis, and that makes Twitter a source for not only information, but entertainment.

In this slideshow I will list the top 25 NBA Twitterers you need to follow from bottom to top. Hope you enjoy!

25. Jared Dudley (@JaredDudley619)

1 of 25

If any of you have a Twitter, you can agree that there are three types of Twitterers: Boring (straight forward), entertaining and clumsy.

Jared Dudley falls somewhere between clumsy and entertaining, leaning more towards clumsy. As a personal favorite, Dudley tweets on a daily basis and he always knows how to get attention (as you can see in the photo).

At the No. 25 spot, Dudley is a steal. For all you Twitterers, click the follow button now!

24. Ty Lawson (@LiLNugget03)

2 of 25

If one wants to follow an entertaining Twitterer, Ty Lawson isn't exactly your man. He is mostly tweeting about his luxury life as an NBA player, and though he has the tendency to be surprisingly funny at times, Lawson is mostly straightforward about his Tweets.

Maybe if Lawson continues to increase his fame in the league, then he'll begin to crack a couple jokes, but until then don't expect too much from the former North Carolina guard.

However, Lawson still provides the usual interesting information that most regular NBA players provide: latest scores for his team, emotions before the game and daily tweets about his life.

If you're a fan of Lawson's game, dating back to his days at North Carolina, he is a solid player to follow in the world of Twitter.

23. JaVale McGee (@JaVale McGee34)

3 of 25

Now in his third year as a Washington Wizard, JaVale McGee has been both entertaining both on and off the court.

Announcing that he is appearing in this year's Dunk Contest, McGee just added a large amount of followers on Twitter and it is well deserved.

McGee is a great player to follow and he is definitely on the entertaining side. Do yourself a favor and press the follow button on his page.

After the now infamous "The Decision" occurred, Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert became a Twitter phenomenon by tweeting negative comments toward now Heat' player, LeBron James.

Though Mr. Gilbert isn't entertaining, he is still someone to follow, merely because of that "one" incident. If you hate LeBron, the follow button on Dan Gilbert's page has to be priority No. 1.

It is only fitting to follow up a fellow teammate with another. Steve Blake may not seem like the interesting type, but if you've been a fan of Blake dating back to his Blazers days, or if you've just caught onto Blake in recent months, he should be on your list of people to follow.

So support the Lakers sharpshooter. Who knows, he may respond to your comments!

As a former player from basketball powerhouse North Carolina, Sean May made a name for himself heading into the league. Though he hasn't exactly lived up to the hype in the NBA, May is still a character.

Love is averaging 21.3 points, 15.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, and he is from Oregon. Kevin Love is arguably one of the best players to come out of the state of Oregon and as an Oregonian, it would be a disgrace not to follow a fellow local, even if he deserted our school (Oregon) for UCLA.

Love is currently being considered as an All-Star candidate and is one of the hottest topics in the league today. If you don't like the man, at least respect his game and click the follow button. Before you say anything, ask yourself this question: Are you feeling the Love tonight?

As a young guard on the rise, Eric Bledsoe brings a lot to the table. Besides his game, he has a typical young player's humor and loves to interact with his followers.

Bledsoe may not be the most renown guard in the league, but he is a fun player to follow on Twitter. So support your fellow player if you are a Clippers fan. If not, at least check his profile out.

Al Horford is one of the more underrated big men in the league today. He is a very solid player with a very solid personality.

15. Mark Cuban (@Mark_Cuban)

11 of 25

I'm guessing most of you already know who Mark Cuban is and what he is all about. If you don't know who he is, just take a look at his profile picture. Though the picture is outdated, it is obvious that Cuban is a character.

Cuban is the biggest Mavericks fan and he is at all the games. At points he is comparable to an excited five year old, but nonetheless he is Mark Cuban, one of the richest owners in the league.

Having said that, you can probably guess what his Twitter profile is like, and hopefully that influences you to follow him, because that man is a character, every day.

14. Vince Carter (@mrvincecarter15)

12 of 25

Vince Carter, a.k.a. "Vinsanity," is one of the best talents the NBA has ever seen. When comparing his talents to other greats, Carter is among the greatest in history.

If you take a look at his career now, he is not exactly where he would have liked, but nonetheless he is a very popular player, even as of now.

With over 50,000 followers, it may be little too late to jump on the Vince Carter bandwagon, but like people say, better late than never.

13. Ronny Turiaf (@RonnyTuriaf14)

13 of 25

With one of the biggest hearts in the league, Ronny Turiaf should be loved by all NBA fans. Wherever he goes, the team enjoys his energy on the court, and though he may not be the best player, the man works his butt off.

Ronny Turiaf is a daily Twitterer and is usually nice enough to respond to some of his followers' comments, so once again, no excuse to not follow such a great figure.

Followers: 16,532

12. Jason Richardson (@jrich23)

14 of 25

At one point in his career, Jason Richardson was among the best dunkers in the league, even winning multiple dunk contests in 2003 and 2004.

With over 60,000 followers, Richardson is a great person to follow, and he also has a sense of humor?

11. J.R. Smith (@JR_Swish)

15 of 25

When someone (J.R. Smith) utters the words, "Dont get me wrong kobe is great but not when he play me" via Twitter, he's bound to receive attention, which in turn blows up the follower count.

Smith is a fun player to watch and though he may say some outrageous things, it's all part of his interesting personality.

10. Brandon Jennings (@BLKICE3)

16 of 25

In Milwaukee, Brandon Jennings has to be the most popular NBA player. Not to look down upon the area, but Milwaukee has very good reason to support Jennings with all they have, considering there isn't much to look forward to.

Jennings has brought a name to the Bucks and is one of the best guards in the game today. He is also a big hit in the Twitter world with over 90,000 followers.

He is a daily Twitterer and likes to tweet even if there isn't anything to tweet about. Nonetheless, Jennings is a fun player to follow.

9. Paul Pierce (@paulpierce34)

17 of 25

Though Paul Pierce is not among the players I particularly like, that doesn't take anything away from his high level of play day in and day out, and of course his involvement with Twitter.

Pierce has been known to have many clever tweets, including the infamous one expressing his obvious feelings about what had happened with LeBron and the Heat: "It's been a pleasure to bring my talents to south beach now on to Memphis."

8. Nate Robinson (@nate_robinson)

18 of 25

Nate Robinson, one of the smallest players in the league, is also one of the funniest people on Twitter. The man always has something to say and isn't shy to express whatever he feels whenever he likes.

Robinson is doing very well in Boston at the moment and is one of the crowd favorites. People need to follow him.

Followers: 233,304

7. Chris Paul (@Oneandonlycp3)

19 of 25

Chris Paul, a.k.a. CP3, is one of the most popular players in the league, period. He is known to be a great person and seems to help out in communities all across the U.S.

Paul's personality on the court is very different from his personality on Twitter, meaning his tweets involve much more fun and are less serious.

With over 250,000 followers, CP3 is a great player to follow in the Twitter world.

6. Blake Griffin (@blakegriffin)

20 of 25

If there is one player who is on the rise to superstardom, it has to be Blake Griffin. Never has the NBA seen so many highlight reel dunks in such a short span of time as they have with Griffin, and we haven't even gotten to the Dunk Contest yet.

Griffin is one of the hottest players at the moment, and his potential is out of this world. You better follow Griffin soon, or you may end up being profiled as a bandwagon fan in the future. Trust me, Griffin will be among the top 10 most popular players in the league in the near future.

5. Ron Artest (@Basketball_Ron)

21 of 25

Among the most colorful personalities in NBA history, Ron Artest has made a name for himself in both the basketball court and the Twitter world, posting occasional public meetings with anyone in the area ranging from playing football to giving away free tickets.

Though Artest has made some adjustments when coming to Los Angeles, he still has that "kid" side to him, and that is what makes Artest one of the most sought after people in the Twitter world, at least for the people who don't fear his occasional mental breakdowns.

As a Lakers fan, it is a privilege to follow such a character, and every minute one isn't following the infamous Ron Artest is time being wasted.

4. John Wall (@jimmywa11)

22 of 25

With the Reebok commercials, the "John Wall Dance" and his success as an individual player, John Wall has become one of the most popular young players in the game today. His child-like personality brings a lot of publicity and the media always loves covering someone like Wall.

Though the Wizards are among the worst teams in the league, Wall still finds a way to be popular, and this will be a positive in the long run. Pressing the follow button on John Wall's page only boosts his confidence, so keep hitting those follow buttons, everyone!

3. Dwight Howard (@DwightHoward)

23 of 25

Among the most sought after NBA players in the Twitter world, Dwight Howard makes for a great person to follow.

Howard's well-known personality mixed in with his great play on the court allows him to dominate the media on and off the court; he currently has close to two million followers.

If you are not already following Howard, which you already should be, do yourself a favor and follow the best big man in the league, Dwight Howard, a.k.a. Superman.

Followers: 1,804,437

2. LeBron James (@KingJames)

24 of 25

Need I say more? LeBron James is no doubt among the biggest sports icons in the world, though the decision didn't help.

James has been known to speak his mind on and off the court, but especially off the court via Twitter. As you can see in the picture above, James most definitely cares about what others think and "takes mental notes" on everyone.

After becoming the most hated man in Cleveland and the most popular player in Miami, the man can't escape one thing: attention. Unless you absolutely hate James with your heart and soul, as many do, he is still someone to follow on Twitter. James just has a knack for today's modern society, which is run by social networks.

1. Shaquille O'Neal (@THE_REAL_SHAQ)

25 of 25

There is no doubt about it, Shaquille O'Neal is the biggest and most popular NBA player in the Twitter world. He has over three million followers and it seems as though his location doesn't change anyone's view about the beast.

Shaq has been known for creating nicknames for himself wherever he went, and the first people to know were those following him.

For many reasons known and unknown, Shaq has to be on the top of every NBA fan's list when choosing who to follow on Twitter. It doesn't matter if you have never liked the man, because he can guarantee one thing for everyone that follows him: He will entertain you on a daily basis, and who wouldn't want that?
