OG Anunoby Injury Update, Latest News on Knicks Star's Status for Game 3 vs. 76ers
The New York Knicks will be without a key player for Friday's Game 3 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
OG Anunoby suffered a right hamstring strain on Wednesday and has been ruled out for Game 3 after initially being listed as questionable, head coach Mike Brown told reporters prior to tip-off.
Per ESPN's Shams Charania, Anunoby is considered to day-to-day with the injury.
Anunoby appeared to suffer the injury in the second half of Wednesday night's win over the Knicks, though Brown didn't have an update immediately after the game.
"I haven't talked to anybody. He looked like he was hopping," Brown told reporters afterwards.
Anunoby had 24 points, five boards, four steals and a block in 37 minutes on Wednesday. He did not play during the final stretch of the fourth quarter.
Anunoby has been tremendous this postseason, putting up 21.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.1 blocks per game through eight contests. As the team's second-leading scorer behind Jalen Brunson this postseason, his potential absence would be quite the blow to the Knicks.
Anunoby isn't the only key player dealing with an ailment at the moment. Mitchell Robinson missed Game 2 due to illness, but Brown said he will play in Game 3.
With Anunoby sidelined, New York will likely use a bigger lineup with Robinson at center and Karl-Anthony Towns at power forward.
The good news for New York is that it heads into Game 3 with a 2-0 lead thanks to strong performances in Games 1 and 2, and they'll hope for Anunoby's return for Game 4.
