Fear Not: He Will Return To Reach THAT Level
Greeting, fellow Bleachers.
Now, there are many superstars who come and go. I have made my return today to shed some light on a superstar that seems "long-forgotten."
The man I speak of is the massive superstar known as Skip Sheffield.
Sheffield made his debut in the WWE as a contestant of NXT. I saw no hope in this man, mostly because of the gimmick.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
At first, I thought that there was no way I could take this physically gifted superstar seriously if he kept the gimmick of a jolly red-neck, and I was correct. I sat at home, amazed at the stupidity of his gimmick.
I sat there wondering to myself if the WWE would ever give this guy the change he so righteously deserved. I was neutral-minded about his elimination from NXT and I never thought that I would see him again.
"Another physical specimen just gone down the drain," I remarked to myself upon his subsequent disappearance from WWE television.
To my surprise, I saw him make a shocking return as part of Nexus. When I first saw what true aggression this man had, there was no mistaking it; this man was born to be heel.
When he goes out there to fight, you truly believe that he means it. When he goes out there, you believe that he's really out to decimate whoever stands as his opposition. When he effortlessly tore Edge apart with that atrocious spear, I was shocked to see what this guy had in his tank.
He was the powerhouse I was looking for. He made me believe that he was the next great powerhouse. Sheffield's heel persona did just the job for him, and it didn't stop there. After several weeks of annihilating the Raw roster, he was set to take on seven of the WWE Raw members in a seven-on-seven tag team elimination match.
At one point in time, Nexus was losing the match and Wade Barrett pulled Sheffield aside and told him something to the effects of, "Go in there and fix this." I took note of this and I kept my eye on Sheffield to see how this would really play out. Sheffield did just exactly what he was ordered to do, as he took out two members of Team WWE.
If that wasn't interesting, it took both Chris Jericho and Edge to take this gargantuan out of the game.
"So they've found him." That was my frame of mind when all was done. Unfortunately, luck would not be on Skip Sheffield's side, as he suffered a compound fracture of an ankle at a live event in August of 2010.
Now, he should be back on the roster eventually, but until then I could hardly wait. Why?
Well, Sheffield is the first man I've seen bring sheer aggression to the table since Goldberg's in-ring work or Batista's Evolution days. He has that "monster" factor and with his heel persona, he could get very far.
Not to mention the guy's age; he's only 29 years old. He has the size that Vince McMahon loves and if he is booked well, he could very well be a credible main-eventer for years to come.
Now, I know that he's still just a midcarder, but I'm a patient guy. I can wait for Sheffield's rise to the top.
Mark my words: Skip Sheffield will succeed.
The only thing I dislike about him is his name—I don't see "Skip" as being a suitable name for a genetic beast. Perhaps something better would do?
As far as his move-pool goes, I don't see anything interesting as there are only few. But, what I do see is how he executes these moves. His aggression makes him seem interesting, and that's all we need.
His aggression only compels the viewer to watch him destroy his opponents. Aggression alone carried both Goldberg and Batista to the top, so why can't it work for Sheffield?
If he gets a good finisher, he could become the greatness I hope he will become in the future. As of now, I think he uses the Running Lariat. He performs it quite well; I believed he beheaded both John Morrison and R-Truth with it in their Summerslam match-up.
There aren't much people with his look, so he should be able to get some of the spotlight on weekly television. In fact, I believe the only other powerhouse in the WWE who looks like they're on steroids is Ezekiel Jackson.
(No, I am not accusing anyone of using steroids.)
This article was meant to remind people of a seemingly forgotten superstar, and express my thoughts on him.
He will make his return sooner rather than later, hopefully. What I thought was just going to be a reminder turned out to be something pretty long.
What can I say? Thank you for the read once again, Bleachers. I appreciate it your time and I implore you to express your thoughts in the comments section below both about this article and about the man himself, Skip Sheffield.
