Les Miles, LSU: The Michigan Wolverines Are Clawing for Your Services Now

Brandon GalvinJan 10, 2011

Les Miles has been the LSU head coach since 2005. He has done a fantastic job with the program since replacing another great college football coach, Nick Saban.

In 2007, Miles led the Tigers to a BCS national championship.

Even in 2007, there was speculation that Miles would fill the vacant Michigan head coach position.

Miles stayed and has seen continued success with the Tigers. This season, he took LSU to the Cotton Bowl and coached his Tigers to a 41-24 victory.

In his six-year tenure with the Tigers, Miles has a 62-17 record. He won five of six bowl games. He failed to finish first or second in the SEC Western Division just once, in 2008, when the Tigers finished third but still won the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

Once again, though, the question emerges.

The Michigan head coach job is once again vacant after the Wolverines fired three-year head coach Rich Rodriguez from the program.

Is it time for Les Miles to take the next step in his career?

What is left for Miles at LSU?

He built up the LSU football program to become one of the best in the nation.

Now, he has a chance to do that with Michigan, which used to be one of the most coveted football schools in the nation. The Wolverines have fallen on hard times and desperately need a boost.

If Les Miles could rebuild the program, if he could bring the Wolverines back to title contention, he just may be able to cement his legacy as one of the best coaches in college football history.

Miles did exactly what he was brought in to do at LSU. He maintained a successful program and won five bowl games, including a BCS national championship.

It is now time for Miles to take his talents elsewhere and rebuild a struggling college in desperate need of rejuvenation.

Les Miles, the Michigan Wolverines need you—don’t let them down.
