Rich Rodriguez Fired: Will Denard Robinson Follow Him Out of Michigan?

The Michigan Wolverines fired head football coach Rich Rodriguez after a disappointing 7-6 season.  

Rodriguez is an offensive mastermind.  No one in college football has run the spread offense better than his football teams dating back to his West Virginia Mountaineer days with Pat White and Steve Slaton.

Knowing that, will the elusive Denard Robinson follow him out of Michigan?

Robinson has a chance to go down as the greatest running quarterback in college football history.

"Shoelace" is the only player to throw and run for more than 1,500 yards in a single season in NCAA history.  He boasts the single season rushing record by a quarterback in DI history.  He also holds the single season and career records for passing and rushing over 200 yards in a game.

When Robinson was asked about his status at Michigan if Rodriguez was fired he answered, "No response."

Triggering my inner psychologist: that answer means he's definitely thought it over.

Again, Rich Rod is the best out there in getting the most out of athletic quarterbacks. Denard Robinson's best chance at succeeding involves running his offense.

What if Michigan hires a coach that runs a pro style offense like the rest of the Big Ten? That coach may start a pocket passer and try Robinson out at running back instead.

That's not going to happen.

Robinson is too talented to be demoted to running back.  He has an opportunity to win the Heisman if he follows Rich Rod.  He would've most likely won it this season had he gone injury free.

Wherever Rodriguez goes, expect Robinson to follow.  Michigan just lost the player that single-handedly won them most of their football games in 2010.

Nice move.
