2011 NFL Mock Draft: January Draft Order Edition
With the first 20 picks of the 2011 NFL draft in place, I can finally do a mock draft without as much speculation...
We've got a long way to go until April, but now that we know the order, it's time for an up-to-date mock...
1. Carolina Panthers
Andrew Luck. No-brainer. Even with Clausen, Luck's promise is Peyton Manning-esque.
2. Denver Broncos
Da'Quan Bowers coupled with Elvis Dumervil create quite the pass-rush duo.
3. Buffalo Bills
Nick Fairley is the most versatile defensive lineman in the draft. and he'll instantly boost the Bills run defense and pass rush.
Patrick Peterson boosts a defense that could be led by Mike Zimmer next season.
5. Arizona Cardinals
Robert Quinn will benefit the pass rush and plug run holes. The Cardinals' front seven was a huge weakness in 2010.
6. Cleveland Browns
A.J. Green is one of the most polished wide receiving prospects in a while.
7. San Francisco 49ers
Cam Newton is a franchise guy that will start from day one in San Fran. Their QB situation is a total mess.
8. Tennessee Titans
Brandon Burton is a extremely gifted corner, and the Titans defensive backfield needs work.
9. Dallas Cowboys
Prince Amukamara is a freakishly talented corner, and the Cowboys secondary needs work. Ideal fit.
10. Washington Redskins
Julio Jones is what the Redskins need: a physical playmaker who can take over a football game.
11. Houston Texans
Brandon Harris is flying under the radar, but the Texans need all the help they can get defending the pass.
12. Minnesota Vikings
Ryan Mallett becomes the future for a Vikings organization that's in shambles at the QB spot.
13. Detroit Lions
J.J. Watt couples with Ndamukong Suh to form a very young and talented defensive line.
14. St. Louis Rams
Jonathan Baldwin is the exact guy the Rams are looking for to speed along Sam Bradford's growing process.
15. Miami Dolphins
Mark Ingram could be the pick here, although it may surprise people. Either Ronnie Brown or Ricky Williams may be expendable at this point.
16. Jacksonville Jaguars
Adrian Clayborn at one point was a top-five pick but had a down year with the Hawkeyes. Clayborn would help the Jags from day one.
17. New England Patriots (from Oakland)
Derek Sherrod is a gifted tackle from Mississippi State; he could add depth to an already stellar Patriots offensive line.
18. San Diego Chargers
Ryan Kerrigan can flat-out rush the passer, and he'd be the heir apparent to the dangerous Shaun Phillips.
19. New York Giants
Travis Lewis is exactly what Perry Fewell wants in his newly installed Tampa Two defense that isn't very young anymore.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Akeem Ayers is another guy who's an ideal fit in the Tampa Two system.
21. Seattle Seahawks
Jake Locker played in Seattle and will be a great replacement for Matt Hasselbeck.
22. Kansas City Chiefs
Allen Bailey helps the Chiefs' always-improving 3-4 defense.
23. Indianapolis Colts
Stefen Wisniewski is the future Jeff Saturday, who could be on his way out.
24. Philadelphia Eagles
Mike Pouncey is the future at the pivot for whichever team drafts him.
25. Green Bay Packers
Von Miller can do it all from his hybrid position, and Clay Matthews could be the biggest beneficiary.
26. New Orleans Saints
Stephen Paea will form quite the duo with Sedrick Ellis on the inside of the Saints defense.
27. Chicago Bears
Anthony Costanzo is the tackle that helps the Bears offensive line turn the corner.
28. New York Jets
Cameron Jordan adds to an already bulky Jets defensive line and could replace Kris Jenkins.
29. Baltimore Ravens
Janoris Jenkins is precisely what the Ravens need—cornerback depth.
30. Pittsburgh Steelers
Gabe Carimi is the ideal fit for the Steelers, who are in dire need of some offensive line assistance.
31. Atlanta Falcons
Nate Solder strengthens an already stout Falcons O-line.
32. New England Patriots
Aaron Williams is another young cornerback with loads of potential.
