Come to Think of it...Albert Pujols Considering Surgery - Why Not Now?
According to ESPN.com, Albert Pujols told a St. Louis television station that he is considering having surgery to fix his left elbow ligament. Those words apparently were uttered at Albert's annual charity gold tournament.
Recognizing this, I've decided to pen an open letter to Albert, on behalf of Cubs fans everywhere.

I'm sorry to hear about the pain and suffering you have been experiencing since injuring your left elbow ligament in 2003. And I understand you're thinking about having it taken care of after the season.
Well, here's a thought for you, Albert, oh buddy... Why not go ahead and get it done sooner. Oh, like say, today, before the first game of the Cubs series vs. the Cardinals in St. Louis. Go ahead, do your neighbors to the north a favor and have the surgery.
As the old saying goes, don't put off for tomorrow something you can do today.
Look, Al, old pal, we're only thinking of you. Healing time is said to be seven to nine months for this procedure. So, if you wait until after the season, you might miss the first couple months of next season.
And listen, Mr. Pujols, you would miss the WBC, perhaps the All-Star Game in St. Louis, as well as costing your team a chance to compete with the Cubs and Milwaukee for the title again next season.
So, hey, don't be selfish. I know you want to help the team now by beating the Cubs. And you want to pad those lofty statistics in order to win the MVP award. But c'mon, the Cardinals aren't going to win the division. Face the sad truth.
And to be honest, as great of a run as this year has been for you guys, the wild card is not looking too promising either.
So go ahead and have the operation today. Why wait? Come to think of it, I will even make the arrangements for you; just tell me when & where. I'd only be happy to do that as a show of respect
But whatever you do, do not procrastinate. The early bird gets the worm remember. Oh, and by the way, tell your buddy Carp he's better off resting that arm of his, wouldn't want to cause permanent damage, now would we? And you know what, come to think of it, Ludwick has been looking a little pale lately too...Lohse has been dropping his arm angle a bit...
Your Truly,
Bob Warja, for Cubs Fans Everywhere
