WWE: Tribute to The Troops Is Again a Major Success
The WWE always does things that make them unique and set them apart.
Their label as "sports entertainment" already makes them different from all other sports. Not to mention that their athletes are among the very best in the entire world; also, these competitors are literally on the road for a full year without an offseason.
Well, the WWE was at it again on Saturday night on NBC. They were live in front of America in Fort Hood, Texas. Fort Hood is the home of the USA's largest active duty post.

People can say whatever they want about Vince McMahon, but he is a patriot. Without a doubt, it's people like McMahon that make this country what it is. McMahon is a prime, living example of "The American Dream."
For those that know of his upbringing and improbable childhood, you will know what I'm talking about. McMahon grew up in a little trailer in North Carolina and scratched and clawed his way through life to become what he is.
In every year since 2003, the WWE has went overseas to Afghanistan and Iraq and delivered wonderful shows. These shows dedicated to the service of men and women that are far braver than the WWE superstars. Their death-defying acts aren't stunts, but rather a part of their daily lives.
All of this in service of this wonderful country that we call America.
I've heard this before and it's so true. The WWE truly doesn't get nearly enough credit for what they do. In a way though, they don't want it either.
Their leader, Vince McMahon, is as much of a patriot as there is in America. In the past, the WWE has been bashed for many things, yet is seldom ever recognized for the great things they do.
Many of the superstars go put themselves on the front battle-lines to give these wonderful troops a little taste of home. The WWE offers free tickets to events for military personnel with valid ID.
The Tribute to The Troops show in Fort Hood saw several celebrities on display. Everyone from Diddy Dirty Money to former President George W. Bush made appearances on the show. Sherri Sheppard and Cedric The Entertainer also made live appearances, along with Taylor Swift, Lindsey Vonn and Kobe Bryant came through via satellite.
The WWE is about more than just wrestling. They're among the greatest ambassadors in the world.
John Cena has granted more wishes for the Make-A-Wish Foundation than any other athlete in America. Cena doesn't suck! He's rather seen as the template for what athletes ought to be. His desire to grant these wishes is so admirable. In addition, his love and adoration of the troops is also respectable. Cena's infamous salute is always dedicated to the troops.
Over the past 25 years, the WWE has granted over 3,500 wishes through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. That number is remarkable for a company that gets such little praise.
So I ask for the media to just keep bashing them while they continue to do what they do best: Make lives better.
