WWE TLC Results: Match-by-Match Breakdown

Joe M.Dec 19, 2010

Tonight was WWE's final pay-per-view of the year, Tables, Ladders, and Chairs.  We saw a Tables Match, Ladder Matches, a TLC Match, even a Chairs Match (one of the most ridiculous match concepts ever).

We saw some amazing matches and a major title change hands at TLC, so read on for a complete match-by-match breakdown and complete results.

As always you can leave a comment below or e-mail me at joe@wrestleslam.com.

Ladder Match: Dolph Ziggler def. Jack Swagger and Kofi Kingston

1 of 8

You've never seen a Ladder Match end like this before.  After a good match filled with a number of great spots, Kofi Kingston pulled the Intercontinental Championship down, but dropped the belt to the mat below.

Ziggler then scrambled and grabbed the belt and was declared the winner.

A somewhat disappointing ending, but it was a change of pace that was not all bad.

On a scale of 1-10, this match gets a 6.5.

Tag Team Tables Match: Beth Phoenix and Natalya def. LayCool

2 of 8

Next up was the first ever Divas Tag Team Tables Match featuring Beth Phoenix and Natalya taking on LayCool.

Divas wrestling in WWE is never anything too special, but having the novelty aspect of this being a Tables Match helped raise the general interest in this one.

In a surprisingly good match, Beth and Natalya defeated LayCool.

On a scale of 1-10, this match gets a 5.5.

Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov def. Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel

3 of 8

Next up was an unannounced match for the WWE Tag Team Championships.  The match would be Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov defending against  former WWE Tag Team Champions Health Slater and Justin Gabriel

Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov make their entrance and of course Santino gets on the mic before the match begins.

Although this match was all right, it was dragged out way too long and ended up ending in a disqualification when Heath Slater ran in to save Gabriel from Santino's Cobra.

Once Slater, Gabriel, Michael McGillicutty, and Husky Harris incapacitate Santino and Kozlov, Wade Barrett comes out with a chair and "sends a message" to John Cena by beating Marella and Kozlov with a chair.

In the end, however, Vladimir and Santino walk away with the WWE Team Championships.

On a scale of 1-10, this match gets a 4.5.

No. 1 Contender Ladder Match: John Morrison Def. Sheamus

4 of 8

Next on the card was John Morrison vs. Sheamus in a Ladder Match to determine the No. 1 Contender for the WWE Championship.

John Morrison has got to be one of the best technical wrestlers in WWE today and we saw just why in the this match.  Filled with spots that only Morrison can pull off in a Ladder Match, this match will be a hard one to follow.

After a match-of-the-year caliber match, John Morrison defeated Sheamus and became the No. 1 Contender for the WWE Championship.

On a scale of 1-10, this match gets a 9.

Tables Match: The Miz def. Randy Orton

5 of 8

The next match was the Tables Match for the WWE Championship.

Before this The Miz was being somewhat packaged as a weak champion, and this match was certainly no exception.

Randy Orton put Alex Riley through a Table when the referee was knocked out and The Miz pulled Orton over the broken table and showed the ref his "handy work".  The ref called for the bell, however saw the replay and the match re-started.

Within the minutes of the re-do match, Riley pushed Orton through a table and that was the end.

The Miz once again won the match and retained the WWE Championship.

On a scale of 1-10, this match gets a 5.5.

TLC Match: Edge def. Kane, Rey Mysterio, and Alberto Del Rio

6 of 8

Next on the card we had the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match for the World Heavyweight Championship.  This match featured Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio in their first TLC Matches, Kane in his second, and Edge, the very innovator of the TLC Match, in his 7th.

This turned out to be an amazing match filled with high-octane spots, ladders, plenty of tables, and more.

In the end, Edge defeated Kane, Alberto Del Rio, and Rey Mysterio to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

On a scale of 1-10, this match gets an 8.5.

Cody Rhodes and Santa

7 of 8

Before the main event, Cody Rhodes came out to talk to Houston about their fat necks and other such appearance related matters.

Mid-way through Cody Rhodes' speech, he is interrupted by Santa Claus, aka Big Show.

Cody Rhodes and Big Show talk.

The scariest part of the entire night came when The Big Show said he would get Rhodes a part in Knucklehead 2.  Good god, please don't let their be a Knucklehead 2.

While it didn't make my 5 Worst WWE Studios Films Ever List, it certainly doesn't deserve a sequel.

Chairs Match: John Cena def. Wade Barrett

8 of 8

Less than one month ago, John Cena was "fired" from WWE.  During his "time fired" he never missed a Raw and in less than one month was re-hired.  One more reason stipulations pretty much mean nothing.

But on to the Chairs Match, John Cena vs. Wade Barrett.  The match was not the match of the night by any means and it actually turned out being a pretty mediocre match.  It had it's spots, but overall it was nothing special at all.

John Cena ended up defeating Wade Barrett.

On a scale of 1-10, this match gets a 4.
