WWE Survivor Series Preview: Breaking Down the Traditional Tag-Team Elimination
Remember when WWE was going to cancel Survivor Series last year?
Then came the outpouring of support from the fans, many of whom were outraged that WWE would even consider scraping one of its Big Four pay-per-views.
In the conference call when he announced that the plan was to cut Survivor Series, Vince McMahon said that the reason was because of the fans' lack of interest in the tag match gimmick.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Well, you would think that if the WWE brought back the pay-per-view because of the fans, they would at least give us two or three traditional Survivor Series elimination tag-team matches.
Instead, we have one, mid-card traditional tag-team match. It's not a bad match, to be fair, but clearly the days of traditional tag-team elimination matches main-eventing Survivor Series are over.
The traditional tag-team match we have is Team Rey Mysterio (Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, MVP, Big Show and Chris Masters) vs. Team Alberto Del Rio (Alberto Del Rio, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, Tyler Reks and Jack Swagger). It's not an unwatchable match by any stretch, but I think I can safely say the fans would have liked to see one more traditional tag-team tilt.
Now it's time to break down the match, look at each team and predict a winner.
The teams are pretty basic, faces vs. heels. There are no faces on Del Rio's team and no heels on Mysterio's team.
The star power is on Rey's team, and over the past few weeks, the team's been getting along. Del Rio's team has less star power, but there is still Jack Swagger, a former World Heavyweight Champion.
Rhodes and McIntyre have been butting heads over the past few weeks, signs that Del Rio's team is weak from the inside. On the other hand, you have the fact that Del Rio is getting a massive push and is hugely over with WWE management.
So who is going to win here?
It's an elimination match, so it's more than possible to have Del Rio's team lose while still making him look strong. Guys like Chris Masters, Tyler Reks, and even MVP are thrown in there just to be eliminated and make someone on the other team look stronger.
My call for this one is Team Rey taking the win, but look for Del Rio to outlast the rest of his team.
