Ending The Undertaker's Career and Re-Masking Kane: WWE Misses Big Opportunity

Ronnie KNov 16, 2010

There has been a lot of buzz regarding who should face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania to end his streak as he plans to retire after. WWE has also tried to re-mask Kane but failed and are still looking for a way to do so as there have been demands to re-mask Kane in order restore him to his former glory.

Well this is the way it could have gone down ...

At Bragging Rights we all saw the Nexus help Kane to bury the Undertaker. Even though Kane was supposed to be buried, Undertaker had to undergo surgery so in order to protect the reputation the Nexus helped Kane bury him. The “WWE Universe” expected something new after that, like Kane the leader of Nexus or Kane bringing Nexus to Smackdown, but all was waste.

At Bragging Rights, the buried alive match was obvious that it was going to be the last buried alive match in the PG Era. I also realize what the WWE missed in that match—a great storyline and an awesome way for Undertaker to retire with an even amazing return.

This is what could have happened:

The Nexus burying both Undertaker and Kane.

This would have set stage for Otunga to pursue the World Heavyweight Championship, since WWE is trying to push Otunga (I would have preferred Gabriel). This could have caused a rift in Nexus and give John Cena some freedom within Nexus as he took orders from Barrett, only because he was the leader and now with Otunga challenging the leadership Cena wouldn’t have to take orders for Barrett, giving him the opportunity to turn heel (if Vince let him).

After a couple of months when Undertaker is fit he could return to Smackdown bragging how he fought Kane in the depths of Hell for months and finally succeeded in burning his body and soul trapping him in hell forever. The Undertaker would turn his attention to Nexus and start feuding with Cena or Barrett (depends who is still the Heel and has control of Nexus) leading to a match at Wrestlemania (since Barrett and Cena are probably going to face him).

The “Anonymous Raw GM” would go on to make it a Hell in a Cell in order to keep Nexus out. Midway, a couple of nexus members go to the back get bolt cutters to interfere in the match but don’t return, The Undertaker signals for a Tombstone when the lights go out and turn red, the stage pyro hits and Kane’s music plays as he walks down the ramp wearing his pre-PG attire: long hair and a mask.

The Nexus members flee in fear as he nears the cage. He rips the cage door off its hinges and enters the cell, enters the ring and faces the Undertaker who looks at him in disbelief. Kane then raises his arm and the ring pyro goes off, grabs Undertaker and hits the Tombstone. Cena/Barrett cover him and end the Undertaker Wrestlemania Streak. Undertaker is never to be seen again after that.

This is how the biggest and the longest feud in WWE will end, coming a full circle ending the exact way it began Kane tombstoning Undertaker in the Cell.

Kane could have later gone on to feud with Nexus and Cena and finally rid WWE of the 'Infection' known as John Cena. Nexus would also have been in the process as they always are because of their feud with Cena. Plus nobody gives a crap about them, anyway (at least not in recent time).
