Roy Halladay Unanimous Vote for 2010 National League Cy Young Award
Roy Halladay was named the winner of the NL Cy Young award and he received all 32 first place votes.
Halladay is the fifth pitcher in the history of baseball to win the Cy Young award in both the American and National leagues. It was the obvious choice and one the writers made correctly. Halladay was the best pitcher in the National League and one of the best in all of baseball.
Inside is a recap of Halladay's season and the runners up for the award.
Halladay's Season
1 of 2
Roy Halladay came over from the Toronto Blue Jays and he tore up the competition in his first season with the Phillies.
Halladay finished with a 21-10 record and a 2.44 ERA. The pitchers also led the National League with the 21 wins and also led the league in innings pitched, shutouts and complete games. It was a dominant season from a dominant pitcher.
It's clear to see why he won the Cy Young.
Runners Up
2 of 2
After Halladay, Adam Wainwright and Ubaldo Jimenez finished second and third in the voting for the Cy Young.
Jimenez was the early favorite but a poor second half of the season doomed the Rockies pitcher's chance of winning the award. Tim Lincecum, the winner of the last two NL Cy Young awards, finished 11th in the voting.
I wonder where he would have finished if the voting took place after the season.
