5 Reasons Why MVP Will Win the Intercontinental Championship
On Friday night Smackdown, MVP defeated two of Smackdown 's best mid-carders, "Dashing" Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre, in a Triple-Threat match to become the new No. 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship.
It has been announced that MVP will get his title shot this coming Friday on Smackdown against Dolph Ziggler. I speak for many when I say MVP needs a change, rather have it be gold, turning heel or both.
This Friday could be the start of something new for the ballin' superstar, bringing fresh new rivalries and more prestige to the historic championship.
1. Last Chance to Get MVP in Spotlight
1 of 5When MVP moved to RAW in the 2009 draft last year, as the fist pick nonetheless, I thought he was destined for greatness. With Mr. Kennedy gone, MVP could take his spot in the WWE title picture to set up a great feud between Randy Orton and MVP over the title.
However, after losing his United States Championship, MVP never bounced back. He was loosely used on RAW following SummerSlam and mainly used on Superstars. His tag team with Mark Henry was short lived after being shot down by Jeri-Show and Legacy.
When he got drafted back to Smackdown this April, nothing changed. He was in even worse condition than before. If he doesn't win the title, no more chances will arrive for Mr. 305 to get that push that he's been asking for.
2. Lack of Opponents for Ziggler

Currently, the Smackdown brand is loaded with mid-card heels. These include McIntyre, Rhodes, Reks, Ziggler, Swagger, among others.
Heel vs. heel matches are uncommon for titles, and it is highly unlikely any one of those men above will turn face as they play perfect in those roles. Dolph Ziggler has beaten nearly every face mid-carder on Smackdown, so if he retains on Friday, who else could he feud with?
With MVP as champion, we can see fresh new feuds of MVP vs. all the men above (maybe besides Swagger) in good matches and have a lengthy reign with the title, similar to his first reign with the U.S. Title.
3. New Theme a Sign of Thing to Come?
3 of 5Recently, MVP has earned a long-awaited new theme song, and it's pretty awesome. I attached it above, and most people agree it's meant for a heel.
Heel turn or not, it has to mean something. New themes are made for gimmicks or new pushes, similar to Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, Zack Ryder, Curt Hawkins and the list goes on and on.
He has picked up a few wins as of late as well, so maybe Creative is finally starting to have faith in him. This theme, however, has given the "Half Man, Half Amazing" superstar a new attitude.
4. Rivalry Renewed
4 of 5Their encounter this Friday will not be the first between MVP and Dolph Ziggler. They met twice last year in a feud for the U.S. Title, and three times in the past two months over the IC Title.
Since MVP lost their last title match a month ago, what would be the point of burying MVP again in the same exact match? It would just certify MVP as a jobber.
MVP has high chances of winning the title (much like Kofi did last year) since they are not feuding, and a rematch can be set up in MVP's hometown of Miami at Survivor Series.
5. Time to Move On
5 of 5
Don't get me wrong, Dolph Ziggler has been a great and fighting champion for three months. But most of it was due to Vickie Guerrero and Katilyn.
Since Vickie and Katilyn haven't put Dolph over that much heat since he won the title, it would be best to give the title to MVP who has a huge fan base.
Besides, Vickie and Katilyn can cost Ziggler the title in some form, and they continue the feud on NXT.
