WWE Creative Plans Regarding Cena, Nexus, WrestleMania: You Aren't Privy To Them
I have not written many articles for Bleacher Report lately. Instead, I have just been enjoying the work written by others. Just about all of the work I have read has been interesting, well thought out and very creative.
I especially enjoy predictions and speculation about the future course of various speculation and superstars. The operative word in that paragraph is "speculation."
What bothers me are articles written with either the implicit or explicit suggestion that the author is aware of WWE's creative plans. Indeed there are many people within the Internet Wrestling Community who claim they know what WWE's "tentative" plans are regarding the future.

The information typically comes from various wrestling fansites but always originates with a shadowy "insider" who somehow knows exactly what the WWE will do. This shadowy insider obviously has no problem risking his cushy six-figure job to give strangers the inside scoop on wrestling's inner workings.
It would be laughable if so many people weren't thoroughly convinced that their fansite and their "friend's friend" truly knew what they were talking about. Intelligent dialogue about wrestling is drowned out by conversations that resemble the ones we had in Middle School about our dad's friend who knows Bill Gates.
Do some of these "leaked plans" occasionally turn out to be right? Yes. If enough people make enough predictions, then they will turn out to be right some of the time. Calling the plan "tentative" shields everyone involved from criticism if it turns out to be wrong (as it is 95 percent of the time).
When I was 12 years old, prior to WrestleMania X7, I remember giving the WWF title match between The Rock and Austin much thought. I realized that these two babyfaces were the most important men in the company and that something had to give. I figured that Austin would win since he had come back from an injury and had not held the title for a couple of years.
I also realized that The Rock had lost their previous encounter at WrestleMania 15. Another loss would make the "Great One" look bad. So the loss could not be clean. Austin had been a face for years at that point and his character had showed signs of weakening.
I correctly predicted that Vince McMahon would come down to the ring and help Austin win the title. I was right. If I had e-mailed PWI claiming I was an insider, I would be a revered figure in the IWC now!
The WWE is a publicly traded company worth over a billion dollars. Their creative staff is well-trained and professional. There is no way that their plans would ever get out to a bunch of Internet smarks. If there is an actual leak, it would only be a feeler to see the public's reaction to an angle.
That leak would be sent out in tandem with other, alternative storylines. At no point is it really creative's plan. More likely, it is just something someone made up on the spot like the ridiculous Sheamus vs Undertaker title unification match "planned for WrestleMania 27."
Internet wrestling fans are notorious for thinking that they know better than professionals. Speaking in technical jargon and casually mentioning WWE creative's plan is usually just a self-deluded fan's attempt to act like they understand the business.
Undoubtedly, some people will comment on this article and say, "Oh yeah, I agree with you. I hate all of these fakes. But there's one real one: www.superdupersecretvincerussoinsider.com which is run by my uncle Bill. Bill is a booker and he's with John Cena's wife, so he gets regular updates and immediately tells me them." And of course, people will still wonder why the Internet Wrestling Community doesn't get more respect.
Everyone has a right to make predictions and to have fun thinking up hypothetical storylines. But ultimately, you are just a fan. You don't know more or less than the seven year old with the purple Cena t-shirt.
