BCS Rankings: The 10 BCS Title Game Matchups We DO Want To See
With the initial BCS standings having just been released last weekend, speculation began about who could run the table and play for the national championship.
While there are many scenarios that could possibly play out over the final seven weeks of the season, Oklahoma and Oregon are clearly in the driver's seat to play in the BCS title game.
But, who does the college football nation really want to see play for all the marbles?
Here is a list of 10 potential BCS title game matchups we all want to see.
Oregon vs. Boise St.
1 of 10
The Broncos took down Oregon at the beginning of last season and the Ducks would be eager to get a rematch with the Boise St.
The Ducks not only lead the nation in points per game, but also have forced more turnovers than any team in the country.
This would be a battle the West Coast would certainly love.
Alabama vs. Oklahoma
2 of 10
Seeing two of college football's all-time greats play in a national championship would certainly be a ratings hit.
The team who everyone perceives as the best in the country in Alabama taking on the current No. 1 team in Oklahoma.
Whichever team could run the ball would likely control the outcome of this one, and it may come down to Mark Ingram versus DeMarco Murray.
Ohio State vs. Michigan St.
3 of 10
While this is a little far-fetched, if both of these squads win out, there is an outside chance they would play for the BCS title.
Big Ten country and a good portion of the Midwest would be ecstatic to see this game of Big Ten powers.
It would pit Michigan St. head coach Mark Dantonio against his former mentor Jim Tressel and without a Big Ten title game, this matchup is not out of the question.
The Buckeyes and Spartans do not meet in the regular season this year, so playing for the BCS championship would be a great way to decide the national champion.
Oregon vs. Auburn
4 of 10
This would certainly be one of the highest-scoring national championships of all time with Auburn taking on Oregon.
Led by Heisman hopeful Cam Newton, Auburn is averaging over 40 points a game. With Oregon over 54 a contest, this one would have all the makings of a good old-fashioned shootout.
First one to 50 wins this one.
Michigan St. vs. Alabama
5 of 10
Former Michigan St. head coach Nick Saban would certainly love to take on his former team in the national championship game.
The Crimson Tide definitely have the talent to get there, and Michigan St. has as good a shot as anybody to run the table and go undefeated.
What a side story this championship would have.
Auburn vs. TCU
6 of 10
The Auburn Tigers are one of the surprise teams in the country so far this season and their high-powered offense would be severely tested against the vaunted TCU defense.
TCU leads the country in points allowed per game and might just have an answer to the Auburn offensive attack.
This game would come down to if the Auburn defense could slow down the TCU offense.
Boise St. vs. Oklahoma
7 of 10
The Sooners would like to enact some revenge on the Broncos, and all the Boise St. haters around the country would be excited as well.
The Broncos would finally have a real chance to prove they belong with the college football elite.
This would be Boise's chance to finally silence all the critics and we would all love to see them get the chance.
Ohio State vs. Alabama
8 of 10
There are many people out there who still believe Alabama and Ohio State are the top two teams in the country and seeing them play for the national championship would be quite fitting.
The two teams who began the season at the top of the rankings have a chance to climb back to the top if everything plays out right.
With the size fanbases these two teams have, a title game pitting these two teams would probably be more watched than any other combination of matchups.
TCU vs. Oregon
9 of 10
TCU boasts the nation's best defense, allowing less than 10 points per game—and we all know how the Ducks put points on the board.
This would clearly be a clash of two different styles.
Beware, though, the Horned Frog offense can also score some points, averaging over 40 per game. This may be a better matchup than people think.
Oklahoma vs. Oregon
10 of 10
As the top two teams in the BCS standings, Oregon and Oklahoma are the front-runners to square off for all the marbles. Who wouldn't want to see these two battle it out?
Oregon has a high-powered an offense as college football has seen in recent years, and Oklahoma has played one of the toughest non-conference schedules of anybody in the country.
At over 54 points per game, the Ducks are the most explosive offense in the country. Oklahoma has been a mainstay at the top of the rankings in recent years, and head coach Bob Stoops has experience in title games.
If these two teams win their remaining games, this will likely be the national championship game, and what more could fans ask for.
