Roberto Alvarez-GallosoOct 20, 2010

Toluca (Mexico) has just eliminated last place FAS (El Salvador) from the CONCACAF Champions League in Estadio Nemesio Diez in Mexico.

Hector Raul Mancilla scored the first goal with a direct kick into the net, in a rapid pace which left behind the FAS Goalie, Oscar Arroyo, within 18 minutes.

The second goal was scored by Juan Cuevas on the basis of a penalty within 54 minutes. Hector Mancilla scored the third goal within 55 minutes, assisted by Juan Cuevas.

Nestor Calderon stunned Arroyo and FAS with another goal within the goal post in 86 minutes. Calderon was assisted by Zinha.

Hector Raul Mancilla scored the final goal, which secured Toluca in the tournament. The goal occurred after a corner kick by Zinha, and was assisted by Edgar Duenas.

Toluca had the hometown advantage in its court as well, since they were first in Group D of the CONCACAF Champions League.

They were also disciplined with their form of playing and distribution of the ball. Toluca was also consistent on offense, while cementing its defense against FAS.

Toluca managed to place Arroyo on the defensive to the point of weakening him. At times, Arroyo had to jump to the ground to deflect more goal attempts.

FAS was in last place in the Group and had to win in order to make a dignified exit. Unfortunately, the team did not respond.

The coach of FAS was screaming at a listless Carlos Aparicio to do something. Aparicio attempted to score a goal, and kicked the ball towards the goal post, but the ball was off target.

Alejandro Bentos attempted to score a goal for his team with a direct kick. The goalie for Toluca Alfredo Talavera used his thigh to deflect the attempted shot.

Both teams substituted players, but this did not affect the outcome of the match. In the end, Toluca prevailed.

Mark Geiger was the referee who awarded two yellow cards for Toluca players, Cuevas and Novaretti, for misconduct.

The most valued players were Hector Raul Mancilla and Juan Cuevas, for their role in Toluca advancing towards the quarterfinals.
