Georgia Football: Why Bulldogs Will Continue To Build Confidence vs Vanderbilt

Adam FromalOct 13, 2010

The Georgia Bulldogs have been missing quite a few pieces to the puzzle this season, but one essential one has been confidence.

Compared to more successful Georgia teams, this squad has played out their games with a seeming lack of determination, grit and confidence. It's always been an interesting conundrum as to which comes first—success or confidence. It's tough to gain either without first having the other.

But on the heels of a dominant performance against the Tennessee Volunteers, could Georgia have gained the confidence it so desperately needed?

The answer is yes, at least partially.

As for the rest of that confidence, which the Bulldogs need so badly, it should come with a victory against the Commodores of Vanderbilt.

The Commodores are the proud owners of a 2-3 record, and one of those two victories came last week against the perennial powerhouse known as Eastern Michigan. In all seriousness, that victory can't be taken too seriously.

The Bulldogs are just 2-4, but they're coming off of a much more significant win and should be inspired to play well this week.

Aaron Murray is growing quickly. He's showing off his powerful arm and quick legs virtually every game and he's well on his way to being a great quarterback.

A.J. Green is back and now has two games under his belt. In those two games he's already picked up 215 receiving yards to go along with his three touchdowns. He's only going to develop a better rapport with Murray.

The one negative is the two-game suspension of Caleb King for his recent arrest. King was only last week named the starting running back, but that title is now firmly within the slippery grasp of Washaun Ealey.

If the Bulldogs play like they did last week, the Commodores shouldn't stand much of a chance. And with that success will only come more and more confidence.

Georgia can't have enough of that as Kentucky and Florida loom in the horizon.
