WWE's Six Pack Challenge at Night Of Champions: Opponent Analysis

Matt SayeSep 12, 2010

Introduction:
At WWE's Night of Champions pay-per-view, the WWE Championship will be on the line in what will apparently be a Six Pack Challenge.

After losing on RAW, Chris Jericho is out, leaving us only 5. But who will walk out WWE Champion?

The “we don't need it” club:
First two participants are John Cena and Edge. These two both form the “we don't need it” club, 'it' being the WWE Championship. Edge has done nothing of note in the last few months since WrestleMania (and no, beating Great Khali wasn't noteworthy). He's pretty much just lingered around the main event with no clear agenda.

As for John Cena, he doesn't need the belt. At all. He's the top guy, his spot at the top of the card isn't being questioned by anyone. However, for some reason, WWE feel the need to give him the WWE Championship intermittently throughout the year. Hopefully, that stops at Night of Champions.

The Irish Curse:
For Sheamus, being WWE Champion isn't working for him. It's not his fault, it's that WWE just won't let him win. Don't get me wrong, I like Sheamus. I like the character. He's unique. But until WWE get over this fear they have of letting him decisively beat anyone of note, he'll never be a credible Double-Yeh Double-Yeh E Champion. Now can you dig that, fella?

I would love for Sheamus to pin Cena or Edge to retain. Alas, I doubt it.

Wade Watch:
Since he burst onto the WWE scene as part of the inaugural WWE NXT, and later Nexus, Wade Barrett is the one to watch in the company. He's clearly someone whom WWE want to make a star out of, and for good reason. He's got the look, he's decent in the ring and (my personal favourite)... he's British! Everyone's on Wade Watch at Night of Champions.

We could very well be looking at the future WWE Champion. But not at NoC.

The Orton Show:
If you thought John Cena was well protected by WWE, you ain't seen nothing yet! In all seriousness, Randy Orton is a very gifted wrestler, and he's definitely well liked by the WWE Universe. He's definitely a top contender to walk out of Night of Champions as WWE Champion, but I don't think it'd be right. Not yet.

I'd prefer an Orton-Sheamus showdown at Hell in a Cell.

The Mystery Man:
Who will take the sixth spot? Only WWE knows. It could be that Jericho gets back in. It could be Miz. Triple H could come back. Hell, John Morrison could get in as he was the one to get Jericho eliminated. The one thing I don't see is Miz getting in. If Miz will have any involvement, I see it being cashing in on a worn out champion afterwards.

This is too tough to call, but it'll be interesting to see who WWE picks for this role.

Conclusion:
This match is a tough one to call. Any of these men could walk out WWE Champion, and Miz could cash in his briefcase. One thing is for sure, though; it'll be interesting who WWE goes with and what direction the WWE Title takes afterwards.
