Don King Is Bad for Floyd Mayweather

Troy SparksJul 30, 2010

Good ol' Don King is up to his tricks again.

The "Only in America" super-promoter can save the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao superfight.

I guess a meeting with the "Don" over a $500, 20-pound lobster will do that to Mayweather.

He wanted his followers to know that they met.

No one can dictate to Mayweather who he should fight because he has no promoter.

That meeting with King should make Bob Arum foam at the mouth.

King is one tough cookie, and Arum knows it.

Arum says he and King can work hand-in-hand like a glove.

Both men have been down this road before.

Before Mayweather uses up his brain, he should holler at Mike Tyson.

Don't ask Tyson why he was great in his prime.

Ask how King screwed him out of millions of dollars.

Do you actually think King will pass up an opportunity to get his grubby hands on some of the cash that will fall out the sky?

Dealing with King is a red flag.

But, if Arum couldn't get Al Haymon, Mayweather's go-to guy for negotiating deals, what are his odds of him hooking up with King to speed up the process?

If Mayweather needs to heed any advice, it should be from Leonard Ellerbe.

Simply put, Don King is the wrong man for Mayweather.

Team Mayweather doesn't need a crook in their camp.

Everyone knows that snakes aren't friendly.

If Mayweather lets King do the negotiating, that 60-40 split might be 40-40, with King getting the other 20 percent.

Mayweather and King are like oil mixed with water.

Say no to King right now.

That's also how George Foreman got messed up in his loss to Muhammad Ali.

History proves that Don King can't be trusted.

By the way, his movie, "Only in America' sucked.

Floyd Jr., accept no more bribes from this man.
