One Year On: Sheamus Makes His Mark in The WWE
When Sheamus first made his debut on ECW, he promised to claim ECW as his own. Some of us thought that was a little far-fetched for the pasty six foot six Irishman.
Turns out he set the bar a tad too low.
Sheamus made his debut a little over a year ago. If anyone said he would be WWE champion less than a year after his debut on the C show, we all would have laughed. Now the Celtic Warrior is entering his second reign.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
He may not have his own section in Bleacher Report yet, but his was a great year nonetheless.
Sheamus hasn't lost much since his debut. His losses have come at the hands of top stars such as John Cena and Triple H. Other losses came from the Superstars roster of jobbers such as Goldust and released Shelton Benjamin. That's a pretty wide spread to say the least.
Sheamus' rise to the main event couldn't have come at a better time. Raw's main event scene has lacked strong heels since the retirement of Batista, and the face/tweener turn of Randy Orton. Some say it was too fast of a rise, but the Celtic warrior's poise in the ring says otherwise.
Sheamus was the best fit to lead the youth movement for the WWE. He didn't need to live up to the career of his relatives like Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase have needed to. He didn't come from reality television like The Miz. He doesn't have size issues like Evan Bourne. He isn't constantly being marketed as the next Kurt Angle. He's over unlike Drew McIntyre.
He also hasn't choked anyone with a tie...
Wrestling used to be a sport where the heels were huge overpowering monsters. Sheamus shows us that they still can be.
Sheamus is the first Irish born WWE champion. While his gimmick may be a little stereotypical to say the least, he brings something to the table that we haven't seen in a long time. He's original. Whether he's feuding with Goldust or John Cena, he brings a level of intensity that really draws you in to what he has to say.
I've said in earlier articles that the MITB PPV will show whether or not the WWE is truly behind Sheamus. I still stand by that but it's hard not to be impressed with what Sheamus has been able to do this past year.
Cheers to the Celtic Warrior.
