Does TNA Really Need Paul Heyman To Turn Things Around?

The Doctor Chris MuellerJul 6, 2010

Lately, the IWC has been buzzing about how Dixie Carter and TNA want to bring in former ECW leader Paul Heyman.

Apparently, TNA had a company do surveys to find out what period in history wrestling fans like more, and their answers showed that the ECW period was the favorite.

With that info, TNA figured that if they brought in Paul Heyman, they could start getting bigger and compete with WWE. I disagree.

While I appreciate what Paul Heyman has done for wrestling, I think bringing him in to TNA would be a mistake, and giving him full creative control like he wants would be an even bigger mistake.

I loved Paul Heyman back when he was still with WWE and before when he ran ECW. He did some great things and had some great ideas about the direction pro wrestling needed to take.

Now, Heyman is saying he wouldn't go to TNA unless he had full control. We, as wrestling fans, need to face the facts.

Despite what Paul Heyman did with ECW to make hardcore wrestling popular, he didn't run a successful company and ended up selling to Vince McMahon.

When he was in the WWE, he clashed with their creative team and was eventually fired from the company.

Paul Heyman, while smart, is not good for wrestling anymore. Heyman is like Jim Cornette in my opinion. They had their time in the sun and now it is time to move on.

Dixie Carter seems to think all wrestling fans want to relive the so-called glory days, and that is not the case with everyone. Most wrestling fans are tired of the same old guys doing the same old things.

We want fresh, new, and exciting stars—Paul Heyman is not any of those things.

Again, I like Paul Heyman and respect what he has done, but I feel his presence in TNA would be a huge mistake. Hogna and Bischoff have not brought in the ratings that everyone thought they would, and that is proof that the old way no longer works.

What TNA needs is a new face to run the company. I would love to see Dixie Carter on the show every week instead of Eric Bischoff.

TNA should make some changes, but Paul Heyman is not the right change at this time. Having him as a type of manager or stable leader would be awesome, but not as GM.
