Leo ReyesJun 27, 2010
Undefeated boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr won over John Duddy of Ireland moments ago at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas via a 12-round unanimous decision.
With the win over Duddy, Chavez remains undefeated in his entire professional boxing career. His professional boxing record now stands at 41 wins, one draw, and one no-contest.
Like the Ring Magazine's No. 2 pound-for-pound boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr., who is undefeated in his entire professional boxing career, Chavez has successfully preserved his zero loss record by defeating John Duddy.
Chavez is fresh from his victory over Troy Rowland last November 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada via a unanimous decision. It was his 42nd fight in his professional boxing career.
Over 12 Boxing-Examiner%7Ey2010m6d26-Julio-Cesar-Chavez-Jr-wins-decision-over-John-Duddy-in-thrilling-battle">action-packed rounds , Chavez and Ireland’s John Duddy engaged in a heated, back and forth affair that had the crowd at the Alamodome on its feet, Chris Robinson of Examiner.com reports.
Chavez Jr. showed some new elements to his game and both were in tremendous shape. Chavez started fast and controlled the early action with his range and power punching on the inside, but Duddy was there every step of the way.
Duddy’s best round was the sixth as he appeared to rock Chavez with a right hand halfway through. Keeping his composure, Chavez covered up and boxed his way out of trouble.
For his fight with John Duddy, Chavez has switched coaches. He is now training under Freddie Roach, who is last year's BWAA Boxing Trainer of the Year.
After 12 rounds of boxing, the scores were 120-108, 117-111, and 116-112, all in favor of Chavez.
