Michael Ballack and Joe Cole Are Free Agents, Arsenal Needs to Take Advantage
In what many of us might deem as "too good to be true", and "highly unlikely", Chelsea's Michael Ballack and Joe Cole are officially free agents.
Chelsea FC's website has announced that Juliano Belletti, Joe Cole and Michael Ballack are all free transfers, and while many rumors kept arising about whether or not Joe Cole will renew, not many thought Ballack would leave.
This is one of those rare chances that could help Arsene Wenger in more ways than one.

Indeed, many people might argue that Michael Ballack and Joe Cole's pay wages could be high, but when you look at how much they would cost, you'd realize that Ballack, even at 33, might cost no less than five or six million, while Joe Cole would cost even more, seeing how he still has a lot left in him.
Should Wenger sign them for free, he would only need to pay half of that transfer money on their wages, and in the end buy two great players who can make a difference.
At the age of 33, soon to be 34, Ballack has two or so years left in him, and if it's any indication, Wenger can bring out the best in Ballack even at his age, seeing how he was able to do it with the older and at the time, rustier Sol Campbell.
Ballack would be a great impact player from the bench, or even in the first team, with Fabregas expected to leave, having quality players like him and Cole along with the likes of Rosicky, Van Persie and Arshavin would do Arsenal a world of good.
While Joe Cole, who has been strongly linked with Arsenal, is still not guaranteed, he is a great player with great technique and ability. Arsenal should not let him go. Having Manchester United, Liverpool or Tottenham signing him or Ballack can only harm Arsenal's chances, and would put an exclamation mark on Wenger's actions in the transfer market.
This could be the start of something very important for Arsenal, this might be the time where they change the way the EPL and the rest of the footballing world looks at them.
Should Arsenal sign Ballack and Cole on a free transfer, and sell Fabregas for 50 million, Arsenal would have brought three world class players in the form of Cole, Ballack and Chamakh for absolutely free.
They would also have around 85 million to spend, should Wenger buy Gourcuff (rumored heavily in the past weeks), he should come at around 22 million, meaning that Arsenal would have around 63 millions to pay on defenders and a quality goal keeper.
While Ballack would rarely be linked with Arsenal, and would probably be hard to imagine, selling Fabregas for 50 million, and then having Ballack, Cole, Chamakh and Gourcuff join for half of that amount seems like an absolute no-brainer, it would add unimaginable steel to an Arsenal squad that needs to have backup players to fill the gaps when needed.
Then, Arsenal can buy a great keeper, and a few great defenders, Gallas, Campbell and Silvestre all look on the way out, while Senderos already left, Arsenal needs to buy some quality defenders, and they have the money to do so.
For some reason, Arsenal has been linked with Buffon for almost over a year now, and it would be every Arsenal fan's dream if Wenger can secure his services.
When you start imagining the starting line up for the Gunners, you'd see that while Fabregas has been excluded, you'll have many more great players filling in the gaps, and finally Arsenal will have not only back up players, but real quality ones too.
Wenger needs to seize this opportunity, and to not let some great free signings get away, otherwise things might backfire.
This is the first time that Arsenal fans might witness Arsenal paying money on more than just one player or two in the transfer season, they might witness some of the greatest signings for Arsenal in a recent seasons, and what would really satisfy the Arsenal faithful, is that some of these signings can be bought for the perfect price.
Absolutely free.
While all this might be considered as dreams being dreamt by the Gooners, stranger things have happened, and should these signings happen, it's safe to say that Arsenal will be one of the stronger teams in England and Europe come next season.
