2010 World Cup: Which National Team Is The Most Entertaining?
There are many different types of teams in football. There is the team which wins efficiently and just gets the job done; they don't care how they win, they just win.
Others are dogged defenders who are quick to punish on the counterattack. Then there are the offensive machines. These teams are powerful on the attack; this type of team is usually the dominating team in possession, and these teams are very high scoring.
In club football, these types of teams have easily been identified. Inter Milan are the defensive team, for instance, while Barcelona are the dominating offensive teams.

In football, and most other team sports, the offensive teams turn out to be the most entertaining teams. This is pretty obvious; the attack minded teams are usually full of flair.
That's what makes watching Barcelona more fun than watching Inter, even though Inter have proved to be the better team.
The same goes for international football. The team full of flair and attack are usually the most entertaining. In the past, Brazil have been the team that has least failed to entertain.
In the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Portugal was the most entertaining team. This year, despite not having Luis Figo, Portugal are still very entertaining.
The Portuguese are known for having technically able wingers. This year, they have the one and only Cristiano Ronaldo leading the front line.
Ronaldo is the king of step overs and tricks, and whenever he gets the ball, you know something exciting is going to happen.
Another team that is very fun to watch is the Netherlands. The Netherlands come second only to Spain in going closest to a total football style of play. The Netherlands play a short passing game.
There defense is a bit weak, however, and this is one of the reasons that they don't make the top of the list. However, the offense of the Netherlands is powerful, and they not only hope to win in South Africa, but also to show the crowd their skills.
Brazil's Samba style football is not only one of the most technically gifted styles, but it was also the most fun to watch. This style was made up of short passes and lots of tricks and flicks.
This time is different, however. Dunga has molded together a team that is a no nonsense type of team. This team just gets the job done efficiently. However, despite Dunga's different philosophy from previous coaches and teams, the Brazilian national team has retained a bit of flair.
Kaka at his best can run at defenders with pure confidence and his defense splitting passes can be equaled by only the few elite. Robinho is always his usual self with his numerous step overs that come second only to Cristiano Ronaldo's moves.
Even the defenders are technically capable of the amazing. Dani Alves and Maicon are powerful on the attack, and Maicon showed what he was capable of with a fantastic goal against Juventus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2AeGxmOqiU ).
However, despite all of this, Brazil does not come first in the list for most entertaining team.
The most entertaining team in all of International football is probably Spain. Spain uses a short passing game. Their style of play comes the closest to a "total football" style.
If one player is out of position, another comes in to fill the spot. It's true that Spain doesn't have the Samba abilities of the Brazilians, but their passing ability and dominance do surpass the Brazilians.
Here's my ranking of the most entertaining teams in international football today; if you have any thoughts, please comment:
1. Spain
2. Brazil
3. Netherlands
4. Portugal
5. England
