Questions on Mosley's Second Round Assault on Mayweather Jr.

Shane Mosley could have ended Floyd Mayweather's winning streak had he followed up his devastating punches that found their mark in the second round of their May 1 fight in Las Vegas, Nevada. Boxing fans are asking why Mosley "stopped while the iron was hot" and did not follow up for a clear win?

Boxing fans who have witnessed Shane Mosley's second round assault on Floyd Mayweather, Jr in their "Who R U Picking" fight last May 1 in Las Vegas, are asking why Mosley did not exert 'extra effort' to finish the undefeated Mayweather in the second round when he could have done so if he wanted to.

Boxing analysts are saying Mosley could have finished Mayweather in the second round of their fight. It was evident that Mayweather was hurt real bad in the round that 'just a little more effort' could have ended the bout in favor of Mosley via KO.

But the real question is why did Mosley held on? It was quite clear from any angle that Mosley had his punching power and senses working for him in that round and even an amateur boxer would tell you it was a won fight in favor of Mosley.

Mayweather was clearly out of his senses in the second round. In the first round, Mayweather failed to land a power punch or a combination of punches that could have weakened Mosley to justify his failure to finish Mayweather in that round. Mosley was fresh and very dangerous in the first and second rounds. Again the question is why did he not follow-up when he knew that Mayweather's legs were already wobbling?

One powerful punch that finds its mark could have sent Mayweather to dreamland. One boxing fanatic says the fight outcome could have been arranged for some considerations. Some fans are saying a sizable amount changed hands days before the fight. Others say the fight was scripted to keep Mayweather's zero loss and bring his popularity to new heights. All these arrangements may have been done for certain considerations, money or otherwise.

While entertaining his friends and media people inside his Mansion in General Santos City in southern Philippines, Michael Marley of Examiner.com solicited the Filipino boxer's comment on the much talked-about second round, and the pound-for-pound king share his thoughts:

“I saw that, I did,” Pacquiao said. “If I can hit Mayweather like that, I will finish him off. I would continue the attack in a way that Mosley did not. I will attack until Mayweather is gone.”

Pacquiao's observations on the controversial second round portion of the bout confirmed the reasons why Mosley held on when he was clearly in the positron to finish Mayweather in that particular round.

Some fans say that Mosley was happy to have fought and lost against Mayweather. The reasons? We don't know for sure.
