Premier League: What To Watch For In Gameweek 33
The end of the premiership season lies in sight and the competition is heating up as the top and bottom clubs look to maintain or better their position. Here is this weekend's lineup with their potential consequences.
Chelsea at Manchester United
This is the highlight match of the week. Chelsea can oust United from their top spot or United could solidify a four point lead in the standings. A draw would leave the pressure on Chelsea to have a perfect finish and hope for a United flop. In addition, United will be missing star player Wayne Rooney.
Wolverhampton at Arsenal
Arsenal will be reeling from the loss of Cesc Fabregas, but they need to win this one in order to stay in the running for first place. They are currently three points behind Chelsea and four behind United.
Tottenham Hotspur at Sunderland
The race is on for fourth place, with Tottenham in the lead so far. A win keeps that going. Sunderland is playing to stay above the bottom quarter of the league.
Aston Villa at Bolton Wanderers
Villa is the farthest behind in the race for fourth place. They need a string of wins to stay strong. Bolton, like Wolverhampton, is looking to avoid from dropping too low on the totem pole, lest they face relegation.
Blackburn Rovers at Portsmouth
The Rovers have been sitting right in the middle of league. They're playing for respect while Portsmouth is still trying to sort out their financial woes and an abysmal season. Their individual players are just playing to find a home on a squad during the sell-off.
Hull City at Stoke City
Hull City is tied for the second worst goal differential in the league and desperately need a win to climb out of the bottom three and escape relegation. Anything less won't help. Stoke City, on the other hand, could climb into the top ten with a win.
Manchester City at Burnley
Both teams have a position to battle for and both want this win. City is a contender for the fourth place slot with Carlos Tevez having an excellent season. Burnley is fighting against relegation, with only 24 points to their name.
Wigan Athletic at Fulham
Fulham seems safe from being booted from the PL, while Wigan is still battling to keep its head above water. Watch for a tight fight between these two bottom half clubs.
Liverpool at Birmingham
Birmingham has the potential to squash Liverpool's hopes of finishing in fourth. In addition, a win for them would bring them closer to overtaking number eight Everton. This could very easily be an upset this week.
West Ham at Everton
West Ham, like many others mentioned above, just wants to stay in the League. However, Everton is playing for respect and to possibly make the top five.
Make sure to check out all the action you can this weekend. Who do you think will win? Any upsets in the making?
