New Jersey Nets Win, Forget Breaking Sixers Record
Nets CEO Brett Yomark lost it on Monday night when he confronted a frustrated fan wearing a paper bag at courtside. With the way this season has gone for the Nets, Yomark knows what's at stake with the team approaching history each passing game.
Yomark can smile about what happened tonight. The Nets earned their eighth victory tonight by defeating the Kings, 93-79, at the Izod Center.
The Nets will likely not break the record for most losses in a season. It's hard to believe it would happen in the first place anyway.
This team has enough good players to not achieve this ignominious feat.
In fact, shame on those guys for even having eight wins this season not to mention starting off the season with the most consecutive losses ever.
The Nets could have been a playoff team with the right coaching. In this crappy Eastern Conference, it's hard to believe this team was out of it so early.
It wouldn't be surprising if this team makes a long playoff run next year with John Wall or Evan Turner.
It's hard to be this bad in the NBA.
Most NBA teams have talent. They are likely going to win some games during the course of the season.
People can talk about how the Lions made history by going 0-16 last year, but that team did not have a single good player. It shows how bad that organization is.
Guys have pride. No one likes to lose, period.
This Nets team is going to play like it's Game Seven of the NBA Finals from now to the rest of the year. They want to end the season with something to be encouraged by heading into next year at the Prudential Center.
It wouldn't be surprising if they finish the year with 16 wins. It does not make up for an awful run, but at least, the team knows they can be a threat in the Eastern Conference next year.
The Nets played well tonight against the Kings.
They shot the ball well, and remarkably, they defended well. They even grabbed rebounds and made sure the Kings did not get second chances.
What a concept! It was refreshing to see.
It's amazing when you look at why Kiki Vandeweghe failed to get the most out of his roster.
What exactly was Rod Thorn thinking hiring him to be Frank's replacement in the first place?
Vandeweghe talks about how he likes to work with young players at practice. That convinced Thorn to think Vandeweghe can apply that teaching to live games.
It did not work out. The current Nets coach showed he was clueless at the job.
The Nets were better off either hiring John Loyler or Mike Fratello to work with this group. It's a good bet they would be contending for a playoff spot if either one took the job.
This organization wasted a year.
It's too bad this team offered nothing for the small amount of Nets fans that actually care.
Look for the Nets to win their ninth game against the Pistons on Friday night.
There's no reason not to think that way.
The Pistons are terrible. They don't defend, and they can't score either. It makes for a golden opportunity for this team to get it done.
By then, the team should be relaxed knowing they won't break the record. This could serve as an impetus for a winning streak.
If they don't get that ninth win on Friday night, they can either achieve it with a victory over the Wizards on Easter night or April 10th at Indiana.
It shouldn't have to get to that point.
At the end of the year, figure this team will win 13 games.
Even if they don't make history, it's really nothing to be proud of.
Not even winning the draft lottery will make up for what happened.
This team is in the business of making the playoffs. Before Bruce Ratner bought the team, this team was actually contending for the championships.
Ratner decided to strip the team when he realized no one in New Jersey cares about this franchise. Who can blame the people of New Jersey?
There's no reason for them to root for a team that is heading to New York.
In a way, it would have been better if they broke the record on their way to Brooklyn.
