Tigers' Scott Sizemore is Healing Just Fine
Back in October, Detroit Tigers’ second base prospect Scott Sizemore broke his ankle in an Arizona Fall League game . Normally when a prospect gets hurt, it isn’t big news. But when the prospect is supposed to be a team’s starting second baseman in the spring, it is.
Now almost after five months since his surgery, Sizemore is on the comeback trail.
The Tigers are taking it slow with Sizemore, but the 25-year-old has been able to participate in most team workouts. “We’ve got to get him ready but can’t do something crazy,” manager Jim Leyland said through MLive.com. “Before he plays, the trainers want him to go full bore on the bases.”

Having confidence in your body is really the key for anyone coming back from any type of injury, especially an injury to your knee or ankle. It really comes down to mind over matter.
The moment of truth for Sizemore will come when he is trying to turn a double play. That is how he broke the ankle in the first place. Will he be mentally tough enough and have confidence in his body to stay in there when a guy is coming at him trying to breakup a double play?
That will Sizemore’s biggest test.
The Tigers still hasn’t decided on whether Sizemore will start the exhibition season opener on Tuesday against Florida Southern College, but all signs point to Sizemore being ready for Opening Day.
