Lebron's Latest Performance Not Very MVP Like.
Looking to the rainbow beyond the storm I guess one can say " Well at least he got his numbers". Once again Lebron James or "The King" if the definition of royalty has nothing to do with actually wearing a crown had a magnificent game through three quarters.
Once again he failed to deliver for the Cavs when it counted, clutch time. Through 3 quarters James was nothing short of magnificent with 30 points, one would of thought he was a sure pick to go for 50, WRONG. Not only did he not get 50 he managed to only score 3 measley points the whole fourth quarter.
Not very MVP like considering the fact that when his team needed him most he abracadabra pulled another Houdini act. These last 3 games should serve as a reminder to NBA fans across the globe, the numbers a player puts up aren't nearly as important as when he puts them up.
Games like this may not effect your number geek constructed PER, but they do seperate the champion from the upper echleon. The Cavs had a great chance to win this game but it would of required someone else getting a bigger portion of the spot light.
We all know Lebron isn't having that and that explains why He stopped going to Shaq even though Shaq was clearly having the more efficent game hitting his first 8 shots.
Another thing that seems to be hurting the Cavs is Lebrons 3 point shooting for the third game in a row he shot 1-6 or worse from the 3 point strike and for the 3rd time in a row the Cavs lossed. As much as I want to concede Lebron James as MVP I just can't.
I'm starting to see that the wins the Cavs have and the numbers Lebron puts up has as much if not more to do with the effectiveness of the team then it does the effectiveness of Lebron. Tonight Mo' Williams and Parker struggled from the floor, they are set shot shooters it comes with the territory. However I don't thinks its fair for Lebron to get the credit when they are draining there jumpshots and for them to take the brunt of the criticism when the shots aren't going down for them. Lebron is the franchise player he should still find a away for them to win, Kobe does.
Lebron could put on a clinic and the Cavs could still lose if the team doesn't play as hard as they do on the defensive end and finish on the end of his passes. On the other hand over in Laker land whether the rest of the Lakers comes to play or not the Lakers always have a chance to win because of number 24's uncontrollable habit of scoring when it counts most.
Sorry ESPN but I'm just not totally sold to the idea of the most efficent player getting MVP recognition if it doesn't equal championship success. Adding to the point I'm not totally sold out to a player getting MVP recognition mainly because of his teams chances to win a title.
I think there should be some type of common ground. So as far as being valuable we all know the Lakers have as much chance of winning a title without Kobe as the PGA of being a overwhelming sucess without Tiger.
The question of the year though isn't can the Cavs win a title without Lebron? The question of the year is can the Cavs when a title WITH Lebron? Totally going against his PER I don't think they can.
