Cricket: England Lions Maul Pakistan A
Craig Kieswetter put in a stunning display for the England Lions as they beat Pakistan A by seven wickets.
Kieswetter shared a partnership of 115 with Ian Bell as the Lions continued to roam in the UAE.
England won the toss and decided to field. Pakistan made 39 before the first wicket fell, as Chris Woakes made the breakthrough for the Lions.
Wickets continued to tumble for Pakistan A, as Sajid Mahmood removed Asad Shafiq for just 75 and Adil Rashid took two wickets for just 21 runs off his four overs. Somerset's Peter Trego took 2-38 for the Lions as Pakistan finished on 156-7 off their 20 overs.
Batting-wise, Pakistan A's top scorers were Shahzaib Hasan, who made 57 off 55 balls, and Naeem Anjum, who made 27* off 16 balls down the order.
The Lions were put on the back foot as Steven Davies and Michael Lumb fell in successive balls, leaving them 34-2, these wickets being taken by left-arm seamer Wahab Riaz.
Then came the big stand by Bell and Kieswetter, whose 115-run partnership put the game in England's balance. When Bell departed for 48 off 44 balls, the Lions needed four runs to win.
These runs were produced by captain Andrew Gale, who hit it in his second ball to finish four*.
Kieswetter finished 77* off just 52 balls, plundering eight fours and four sixes. The Somerset keeper showed his class in these innings, proving why he is one of the biggest talents in English cricket.
