Nowhere to "Ron"—Cristiano Ronaldo Is the Real Deal

Tariq KhanJun 25, 2008

It seems that Cristiano Ronaldo has now set his sights on leaving Manchester United, having spent five season at Old Trafford he feels he needs a new challenge.

Having now firmly set his sights on Real Madrid, it's a move that could make or break his football career. Never in the history of Manchester United has a player's move away from the club been followed so much, especially as this time the player himself has said he wants to leave.

In other high profile transfers that have  occurred at Old Trafford players have never wanted to move—Ronaldo does.

This is the main reason why the move could turn him into potentially one of the greatest footballers to grace the pitch or another player who had too much confidence and couldn't hack it in other league.

He is virtually begging Manchester United chiefs to let him go. If he does leave, Man Utd will pocket within the region of £60 to £80 million, which would knock 10% of their debt off immediately—however, the Glazers have said this is not an issue.

They would rather let the player rot in the stands than sell him.

In spite of this, every player has a price, even the "priceless" in football. Real have also been big spenders, and they will pay whatever to get Ronaldo, and he will have a lot to live up to if he does arrive at Madrid.

Will THAT boy Ronaldo deliver at a club where they have won more European cups than any other? Of course he will. He has shown that he is a fantastic player, Spain will suit his game to the tee, the only problem that may face him is he will not have players like Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez—who have become more team players to help Ronaldo mould into the player he is.

If Ronaldo was not on Manchester, you can beat your mortgage that Rooney would have gotten many more goals.

At Madrid, most of the players are selfish—it's not hard to see that Ruud Van Nistelrooy would rather take a shot and miss than pass, even if it's the better option. Players like Arjen Robben and Robinho also play attacking football and are similar players to Ronaldo.

Can Ronaldo fit into the squad and find his feet? Only time will tell—if not this year, then it will be next year, but it's only a matter on time before we see Ronnie in a white shirt and it will be the Real Madrid faithful singing "Viva Ronaldo", with Manchester a distant memory.
