Baron Davis Coming to the Cleveland Cavaliers? Let's Hope So
We all know that LeBron is real close with rapper Jay-Z. We also know that Lebron is a Yankees fan, and even has a shoe line draped in NY Yankee team colors.
We also know that Lebron's contract is up on 2010—and if he doesn't get a championship, he is out of here. He can make much more money in New York, he can gain much more exposure in a big market city, and it just so happens that his boy Jay-Z owns the Nets, which he is very shortly moving to Brooklyn.
Rumor has it that the Cavaliers office has their eyes on big-time point guard, Baron Davis—and boy do they need to get him. Not only are the Cavs in need of a point guard who can legitimately run the offense, but they are in dire straights to have someone who can put up points night in and night out, and take the burden off Mr. James' shoulders to have to make each and every play to give us a legit chance of winning.
If you haven't realized, the referees in this league favor big market teams when it comes to officiating. That is, their whistles are a little more reluctant to blow if it will hurt the chances of a big market team from succeeding in the playoffs... That's how they get the ratings—just look at this year's Finals matchup.
This is just another reason why Lebron could leave for Brooklyn. After all, the Cavs were only few plays away from beating the Celtics—and if that had happened, we ultimately could have won this year's championship.
So why shouldn't James go to Brooklyn? He will be a bigger star, get more endorsements, be part of a national market—and most of all, get a lot more whistles to go in his favor. I'm sure he wouldn't mind that.
Baron Davis is a proven superstar. He is big—he can post up the average sized point guard and use his muscle to get to the basket. He can put up thirty points a game while dishing out ten assists a game.
Most importantly, he does not shy away from the big moment. He craves it. If B Diddy comes to the Cavs, it's an automatic championship in Cleveland.
Don't believe me? Just look back at the series last year where he lead the Warriors past the MVP at that time, Dirk Nowitzki, and the Mavericks.
If Lebron leaves Cleveland, the town will be in shambles. Baron Davis sure would be nice. Real nice.
